Groupon going public

Post by DubiousSalmon »

Do you think groupon is overpriced trading at around $28 a share today? Many investors think that it will drop down by over half in the next few quarters, though in the short term I think It will grow a bit more with all the hype about it going public.

If it smells like trout, pull it out.

If it smells like salmon, keep on jammin'.

Meh, I don't think the business model is sustainable long term. I saw a report that said something on the order of 80% of the businesses who partner with Groupon reported losing money and would not consider doing it again.

Ironically, it may be the big companies who can take the revenue losses in the name of promoting a product, which runs counter to the way Groupon is currently structured. They want to focus on smaller local companies who cannot absorb decreased revenue as easily.
