In the end however, they were probably right to.
It is incredibly funny to see and listen to how the media (on both ends of the spectrum) completely pretend like Ron Paul doesn't exist. I mean today I heard both CNN and FOX discuss everything that Cain, Perry, Romney, Gingrich, Bachman (and even Huntsman, who doesn't even come close to polling as high as Ron Paul!) had to say or what they politically viewed as important; but there was never any mention of Paul.
I think the majority of people do recognize this, and this is why whenever there is a television or internet poll; they just instinctively pick Ron Paul as the one who won the debate (of which if you are fairly politically oriented would recognize the truth).
Will he win the GOP nod? No. The big interests wouldn't want someone that was pro-For-the-People and smaller government. They would like to keep the big corporate bail out system as it is, and make the rest of the middle class work harder and pay more taxes!
This is a totally different topic, but I think the party system shouldn't even exist! I think when a party system is in place, the party in power will always try to get the person less likely to succeed elected within the opposing party. This thinking should be the exact opposite. The party in power should want the best opposing member party that most closely resembles their preambles. That way if your political choice should happen to loose to the opposing member, at least it wouldn't have been as bad if you lost to someone that was way out of spectrum.
If Perry were to beat Obama...just think how pissed off liberals would be (not to mention a lot of libertarian conservatives!). Wouldn't it be better if the choice for president were Paul or Obama? Wouldn't it be better if Obama happened to lose, that Paul would take over instead of dooooshbag Perry or Romney?
This is why liberals should push to have Paul elected as the GOP lead...not because he would be an easy person to beat, but because he would be a better alternative than most of the GOP flipfloppers and war mongers.
