Oh, come on now, Robinette! Owen is no one's whipping boy.Robinette wrote:1st...
it amazes me that owen, who often is the mods favorite whipping boy, it the strongest defender of CC.owenshooter wrote:why would CC be involved in a tournament with 2 other sites that are nowhere near the caliber of CC? it would be acknowledging them as somewhat "equal" and/or "relevant"... and guess what? neither are ..... nobody here would bother to look at either of those garbage sites.... i am one of CC's biggest critics, and realize how superior CC is to both of those sites.... bye!!-el Jesus negro
Anyone with half a brain would understand that marketing to an audience that is already interested produces more results than marketing to the general population. But you choose to focus on the analogy rather than the message... I guess you need the perfect analogy to understand the message....owenshooter wrote:that was a horrible comparison, because apple doesn't "do" consumer shows where all the PC peeps roll their products out. apple lets journalist, industry writers, etc get a preview of their products. in other words, you want to see an apple product, you either buy it onlone or to to an apple dealer and check it out. try again, and next time us a real world analogy that is actually accurate...-el Jesus negrobeertop wrote:Actually, I think that the opposite should be true...if my site is the best, I would not be afraid of exposing my customers to a multi-site tournament. if i were lack, and owned the dominate site, i would not be at all interested in exposing my customers to a multi-site tournament. I would instead focus on keeping my customers happy, and quickly add any sexy enhancements that my recon teams found at other sites, in addition to adding even more innovative enhancements.
-show/reinforce to my customers that my site is the best
-expose my site to a "interested" audience, some/many of whom will see what they have been missing and switch.
Lets use Apple, Google & Blackberry as an example. And in this case lets say Apple is the best. At a convention, as Apple, would you prefer to concentrate your efforts in a room of general population, where only some might be interested in an iPad or would you prefer to be in a room comparing the iPad to Android and Playbook to those who have tablets or are serious about them? I think the other 2 have more to lose than CC. Landgrab mostly, since MC are mostly ex-CC.
It looks like they have one of their members ready & willing to get their guys to participate...as do MC. I just came across the thread in the tournament forum, saw little response & thought I'd bring it up in a more active forum....I dont know what they're proposing, but I'm sure that they intend the games to be played on all sites.jgordon1111 wrote:Beer go post in those sites for them to come play on cc for an better gaming experience, where the maps they are currently playing on were created
no, i think anyone with a 1/4 brain would use a proper analogy and/or say what they mean... apple does not go to tech shows with the rest of the pc world... so if you are comparing CC to apple, then why would CC want to play in that tournament... i can only read what you write, not what is going on in your head while you write something completely unrelated...-el Jesus negrobeertop wrote:Anyone with half a brain would understand that marketing to an audience that is already interested produces more results than marketing to the general population. sherkaner wrote:ow wait, that wasn't ment as flaming, just why would you go to other sites to play there, even if it's a tournament? I won't stop anyone, but it just doesn't look that interesting to me.

Or Strategy Game Network? Seriously, it sounds intriguing, but I don't see how you would organize it. I mean, what would make it the "best?" a bunch of 1v1 games, or a clan war format? Maybe a mix? Chained, unlimited, adjacent? Fog? Spoils? Maps with bombardments even? To different people, different parts of the game are most important or require the most skill, and I just don't think its feasible to unite 3+ sites on the terms when even on one site there is such diversity. You can't get everyone behind it, so it won't work, even if it is a nice idea. If they want to judge themselves against CC players, they can join and try to win the TPA, or start a clan and try for the CCup or Clan League title.angola wrote:Why isn't Grand Strategy invited?
Come on all you Grand Strategy alums, unite!

Perhaps the relevant CC stat is..TeeGee wrote:How do these other sites survive??
CC: WHO IS ONLINE
In total there are 475 users online :: 336 registered, 44 hidden and 95 guests
MC:Currently Active Users
There are currently 2 users online. 0 members and 2 guests
LG:
LandGrab is currently unavailable due to scheduled database backups.
I can see why they would want access to the CC members

Noobs play RT games because they are free. Talking VERY generally I would say the majority of better players play long term games on 24, 36, 48 hour timers or some play longer.grifftron wrote:Land grab actually isn't that bad of a site, beside it being slow as hell... its got 2 min speeders (free for even freemiums)... you get coins for winning games, and eventually can use these coins to buy free premium instead of using cash... they have premium that you can buy for life for $60... they also have the 1 year premium for $20... that would be cool to get lifetime premium here for $50-$60. Plus the site is pretty up to date graphic wise on homepage and what not, although most maps are childish graphics, but there are a select few that are pretty decent graphic wise.
I played 5 games there already (all 2 min speeders) and won all 5... bad thing about the site is it seems like the players are noobs, if we did have a tourney with this site, they would be destroyed and all their players would come to learn how to play here before going back home.
