Well, I had a deadlock-breaking rule in effect to avoid a tie, but as you know the deadlock-breaking rule failed to break the deadlock. (This was not a rule I made up at the last minute. It was posted in the original post, as follows:)Nailer X wrote:Why does Mande win a game in round 5 when you called it a tie ?
Perfectly in accordance with that, I came in on Oct. 17th and announced:Dukasaur wrote:Deadlocked games: Because this tournament is for people who are not in a hurry, I will not worry too much about rushing games along. However, if the last game in a round is lasting an unusually long time, I will give five days notice for the players to win, and if it is still not won at the end of the five days then I will declare a winner according to reinforcements received on the last turn taken before the deadline.
However, on Oct. 22nd, when I came back in to the game, expecting to crown a winner, I found this:2011-10-17 07:46:30 - Dukasaur: I have to invoke the deadlocked games rule
2011-10-17 07:48:20 - Dukasaur: Five days notice: 8:45 my time (or as close to it as I can manage) next Saturday I will come here and declare a winner according to the reinforcements received on your last turn previous to that time.
So we were still without a winner. From that point on, I was asking around as to what method should be used to break the tie. Unfortunately, you three did not really make any suggestions, although I invited you to. I did get some input from other experienced tournament organisers about what they would do, but all this took some time, plus I was quite busy with R/L, so another week passed. I was ready to announce a NEW tiebreaking deadline today, but yesterday the game finally ended, so no need.2011-10-22 06:29:37 - Dukasaur: Mande 20, Bunn Ree 17, Nailer 20
