Taiwan / Formosa

Post by AndyDufresne »

I stumbled across this big old map of Taiwan, and it looked like it could make for a good map. Of course, I have no intention of making it since I am not a mapmaker, but I thought I would at least post the idea!

Mmhm. If someone designs the gameplay for it I might possibly do the graphics...

I did this a while back and thought about throwing some borders on there to make it a CC map. Might do it now... gotta get my mouse working again cause photoshop is nigh impossible with just the track pad.

I was alsop thinking of doing a historical map of the attempted Dutch take over of the island, but the Qing drove them off, just to illustrate that Western superiority wasn't always a given and that the colonial powers weren't invincible and the Qing dynasty were much more formidable than usually depicted (especially in the 19th c.). Jut to challange the eurocentricity perception of history thst so many of us have. But really, modern Taiwan would be cool.

If you go with a modern-day approach here you could include Taiwan's high-speed rail system that links north and south.
