I don't really get the yet another America or yet another Europe or yet another WWII map stuff. There's going to be overlap or maps would probably stop at 20. As long as a concept is fresh and unique and well done I think it's a great idea. I think this would be a good idea if someone were to do it.DJ Teflon wrote:The Viking invasions of Britain have been attempted before, and some interesting maps - I think the mapmakers lost interest eventually though, or rl took over.
The only problem with the map linked to above is that it may be sen as 'yet another europe map'. If you can get away from that you are onto a winning idea.

they came from scandinavia, thats was later on divided in to Denmark (yes
), Norway, and Sweeden
All very valid points. A more accurate name for those who lived in Scandinavia at the time would be Norsemen, I suppose.J_Indr wrote:Except that 'viking' is not a 'nation', but rather an 'occupation' like merchant, farmer, etc. So, 'viking' would be somebody coming form the north, and who sails the sea for raiding purposes. Strictly speaking, then, after the phase of raiding, the settled vikings are vikings no more.
I'd be much in favour of the 'raiding' concept and sticking only to the seas, coastal areas, and rivers that were somehow prominent in the viking raiding. And it would be amazing, to expand it across the Atlantic too
