New Statistic...just for fun.

A statistic showing the total number of points gained and the total number of points lost, separately, all time.

I am just curious is all of how many points I have actually gained and lost in totality. It shouldn't be that hard to determine by mining data from the scoreboard or from the logs, maybe BoB can do it, or Map Rank, or someone smarter than me can write a quick script. Maybe it can even break out the different game styles/settings to show the numbers for each as well...

It may or may not benefit the site...its just a curiosity of mine, although it could possibly be used to help settle a few long running debates around here.

example:
My current score is 2019
All time I have gained 20049 points (not a real number obviously)
All time I have lost 31586 points (again, not a real number)

Obviously, that's just going to depend on how many games you've played. But your points gained will just be 1019 points than points lost right now.

I'm not sure I really see the significance.

Right now its just like a checkbook, sum of credits and debits, to get the total score. (and that's fine)

Seeing how many points I have gained in total and lost in total are way different, especially since the amount of points one gains or loses changes all the time (even against the same opponent), its all just for fun anyway. I agree that it will depend on how many games one has played and I am not suggesting this be anything official...just an interesting stat to have.

You don't think it would be interesting to know that over the lifetime of your account, you have gained....1,000,000 points?...or lost 1,000,000?

Not really.

I'm not sure what you were saying I was wrong about. Everyone starts at 1000 points. You have 2019. So, over the course of time your points lost are X and your points gained are X+1019.

not what I am after...the cumulative score I know already.

I am wondering about the numbers independently of each other.

10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10= 90 total points gained over the lifetime of my account (for simplicities sake)

10+10+10+10+10+10+10+10= 80 total points lost over the lifetime of my account (for simplicities sake)

my 'score' is 10, that I already have....what I don't know is how I got there and I'm curious.
