I think that united has a lot of guys in the club since the last 25 years or so, players and manager. when they will all leave is when the new era will start. and i have no idea if the successors will fail or not. has fergie set a deadline regarding his last season?
In italy del piero, inzaghi, zambrotta, gattuso, nesta all retired at once... all this generation of players from the 90s will soon be completely gone.
2-3 more years? New York is talking to Nesta by the way for him to come for half a season. We want a championship and we want it now!
i wouldnt believe it, for the past ten years they've been saying he'll retire soon, its just headline grabbing to sell papers. as soon as you see a protege at united for the managers job then you'll know he is retiring in a few years until then he aint going anywhere.
Guys, why speculate. Waste of time. All I can say is I think the day Ferguson retires is a grave day for United. He's in a very elite club of astonishing football managers. Topping the list above the likes of Wenger and Mourinho.

Oh another thing - Joey Barton has committed "career suicide". Just by being born.
I know Tevez was tussling with him, but he should not have elbowed him. I saw the flag go up straight away and I knew it was going to be a red. But then to go and kick Suarez from behind (I know, Suarez is a **** and we'd all love to kick him), headbutt Kompany (was it Kompany?) and then try to flatten Mario (which I would have loved to see, he would have muellered him) was just disgraceful. He's looking at a ten match ban, and no-one will touch him.#
Oh, and if anyone wants to say "it's not fair, it's only cause it's Barton", they can go and fornicate themselves.

Not sure what you mean by "buy a trophy"...
Whoever bought City just wanted to advertise themselves and make an investment, but it seems to me that Abrahamovic actually likes Football.
So if you're talking about financial power, the same applies to every top european teams (United, Real, Barca...).
That being said I hope too that Bayern wins.

no the same doesnt apply, a club gets taken over they sell most of the players and spend hundreds of millons on new players and in one season the club goes from middle standing to title contenders, United, Real and Barce all have great personel , youth programs, scouts and facilities in place built up over decades. they didnt just splash cash around and buy trophys in a season they spent years/decades putting in the right systems in their clubs so that when times go bad they can recover.
while abramovic may like football and be a true fan he still bought trophys by bringing in new players instead of slowing building up the club. chelsea were occasional top 4 before he bought them but they shot up to title contenders in a season thanks to money if he and his money were to go chelsea would drop back down the table with no hope of getting back up to title contenders as the system isnt in place at that club to do so. money is a curse in football and im glad uefa has recognized that with the finanicial restrictions they are gonna bring in.
just saw on sky news that kenny got sacked as liverpool manager, what has become of football if an icon like kenny can be sacked at a club he helped make great.

one time we dont win the title and you think we are done lmfao , ppl said we were done after we failed to win it from 04-06 seasons and we came back with a vengence and won it for the next 3 years straight with another CL title and went on to be in CL final 3 out of 4 years.
United have in place the structure to produce top teams shitty dont they just bought the title and when the money becomes less important with uefa fair play rule they will fall back as they dont have the structure in place.
I never said I thought you were done, only that I really hoped so,I know its unlikely but I can hope? Also every team in my time, and I've been going to matches since 1961,has bought the title to some extent,in fact United much more than some others.

when did united replace an entire squad by buying high priced players? i bet you cant name one time united arsenal or liverpool did such a thing. matt busby and Alex ferguson are two of the best managers that ever graced the game of football without either of them united wouldnt be where they are. hard work not money got us to where we are.

Seriously both money and hard work wins titles. Everton work hard but they don't have the money. You need both.

yeah but not a rediclous amount of money city and chelsea have. United dont spend big that often last season was the exceptoin wher we spend 55 mil on a new keeper and ashley young(no lived up to the pricetag) but most season we dont spend that much. The money we got for ronaldo wasnt spent it was used to get the debt the club has down. we badly need investment in the team that has been lacking for years. Fergie hasnt made the right buys imo.
Everton is a curious case they were at 4th a few seasons ago and have a steady manager but cant seem to be able to stay up there, i guess they dont have the brand recognision that the top teams have to attract top players.im sure they could afford to spend some money now and again but they cant attract the top players.

They don't have the money to get the top players. It not just buying it is also wages. Top players want top wages. Only certain clubs can hold players that make 100,000+ Pounds a week.

It's only a matter of degree, where do you draw the line for what is excessive spending? If City and Chelsea are first and second Man U are probably third, meaning they are very near the top of teams who have bought the title..

there is a difference between spending and over-spending, replacing more than 75% of a squad with high priced players means buying the title.
24 hrs left to CL final , predictions on the score? i think 3-2 bayern AET.

Fucking gutted about the results today, great end to the season though. I bet my dad a tenner bayern would win, and from then on they missed every penalty...

Probably shouldn't have posted that, so I will replace it with this. My apologies to all - really wanted Bayern to win, and kind of flew off the handle when they didn't. I'm sorry.

Congrats Chelski, I find it piss funny that a fucking caretaker who got sacked by West Brom has delivered Abramovich's Holy Grail when Mourinho, Scolari, Grant et al failed despite their handsome remuneration packages! Now he (Di Matteo) will prob get the job and fail abysmally!

well they won it and considering the match the probably just about deserved it considering all of bayern's wasted chances, robben you bastard you cost me €20
