BTW: This list is all jacked-the-f*ck-up and when you consider how much time I put into it. I'm leaning strongly towards Top 100 Greatest English speaking films of all time presented in alphabetical order. I figure if you were to do a Top 100 greatest songs of all time, you'd definitely want to do that in alphabetical order. Also, there's these huge blocks or steps where there's not a whole lot of difference in greatness or quality in the film.

Still real excited about owning a 3rd of this site. The remaining stockholders come out ahead because just by having me as an owner, the value of their stocks escalates by more than 50%.

M*A*S*H is too low in the list, and that's an understatement.

meh. I thought the Graduate was over-rated. Granted, it came out like 20 years before I was born, but even then it doesn't compare to the better late 60s, early 70s films.

Also, I liked The Great Escape more than The Bridge Over the River Kwai for WW2 POW movies. Then again that might be because I saw the Great Escape more as a kid.

I've never heard of "w.i.p." before...how does it decide it's top 100 films? I like IMDB's everyone gets to vote strategy, though that definitely favors later films (like, The Dark Knight is 8 and even though it's a good film, there are a lot of films that have greater legacies...I think it's because more young people use the internet and are more likely to vote for their generation's films).

Though, I like this list a LOT more than AFI's top 100. That seems to favor older movies a lot more.

oh and I HATED Raging Bull. Way to slow for my tastes.

And Dr. Strangelove being left out kind of hurts. My favorite Kubrick film.

Raiders of The Lost Arch? Hmmm don't think I've seen that one yet. What's it about?

j/k. Patton isn't really a great film. He was a great general and I like watching the movie but it's not that good.

Shawshank Redemption is one of those movies that I wished it was not in my top favorites. But every time I watch it I say to myself that this is if not the best, one of the top 5, or top 3 movies of all time.

Also, I hate Andy here, so it sucks that he chose his name from that movie.

Does anyone feel that way? I wished that I could say Pulp Fiction or The Godfather I & II were better than Shawshank Redemption.

I don't know what I think about this film.

I guess the problem is that I had read the book before I saw the movie, so I had to be disappointed...

It's still good, but not in my top 5.

Alien (or Aliens, which is as good) should be higher than The Exorcist. They perfect horror.

Hence "a work in progress".

Going to have to disagree with you on The Graduate, AoG. It's in my top 2-3.

Shawshank does seem to get better with every viewing.

Also, this list needs The Deer Hunter and Dog Day Afternoon!

Yeah, Léon...

Also Little Big Man, Once upon a time in the west, and others.

And The Monty Pythons.

No cartoons? Not even Spirited Away?
For older movies, Airplane! is hilarious. For a more modern movie that really stands out to me, I would say Gran Torino.

Not a single silent movie on the list?
How about the Crowd?

Also, film noir is underrepresented. The French poetic realists are displeased.

You need to specify which Scarface. Both scarfaces are extremely popular cult classics which have appeared on best movie lists before.

Trading places should trade places with boogie nights.

I am a big fan of Gran Torino as well, but I understand why it wouldn't make the list as it doesn't appeal to many people - movie snobs alike.
