You're right. The invisible map IS a wierd start.

me and my partner once held europe and africa within the first round... and i've started with conts before. wat i've never seen is everybody start with a continent or someone start with a 5 bonus cont

philkam started the game with all 5 kings, and a 7 bonus for holding them.

It's the people who start off with Oceania that really piss me off. Gives them one hell of a head start from the word go and most decent players will win from there if they can hold off invasions in the first few turns.
