this makes no sense at all. If "the community" (in quotes because of how god damn vague that is) was against porn shops and strip clubs, then they wouldn't purchase the goods and services (puns not intended) but alas, there is a demand.

I'm going to have to pull a Voltaire and say that even though I think the arguments against gay marriage are utterly ludicrous and outdated, they have the right to have and say them. If "the community" thinks Chick-fil-a is a bunch of bigots, then they'll show it through the market.

No sense whatsoever, but I think I have their reasoning pinned down as to why all this bigotry is being espoused.

They are acting as if chik-fil-a does not hire homosexuals, does not serve homosexual food, has a sign on the door that says "no homosexuals allowed" Of course, none of this has happened and they are just plain wrong. But for some reason, their reaction is equal to what, for example, mine would be if this discrimination were the case. I chalk it up to the hate that exists inside them. All they need is the smallest excuse to immediately raise the stakes 10 levels, freedom of speech, freedom of religion be damned, the jobs that come with those restaurants, the tax revenue generated by them and the earned wealth and philanthropy pumped into the communities be damned. Not to mention the healthy values chik-fil-a promotes and the friendly and comfortable environment they create and help promote.

Also, another observance, in their eyes discrimination is sin, except for when it's against a Christian white male business owner (and they thrive in what they consider acceptable bigotry). Chik-fil-a is a stage 4 clinger, and stage 4's get monster media play and attention.

My prediction, Chik-Fil-A will have a record sales day, they will serve every single person who comes through their door regardless of race, gender, handicap, or creed. And then they will announce they are donating every penny of it to orphanages all across the USA. It really is sad , the insatiable selfish greed of some who pillage and destroy so ruthlessly.

The only good thing about all this hateful and divisive discriminatory and bigoted reaction is that more and more people are starting to see the issue for what it is, and these people for who they are, and how low they are willing to go in their misrepresentation and bully tactics.

Is this more healthy than non-homosexual food? Taste better?

It seems obvious to me that someone who makes Holocaust jokes in the presence of the son of a Holocaust survivor might be making an enemy out of him. Of course, by earnestly defending your own 'nothing-bad-ever-happened-to-me-though-so-I-don't-get-it' privilege to mock the Holocaust, you would be intentionally cementing that rage that made your enemy in the first place.

And by not understanding and misrepresenting a single sentence spoken by NOME, you're going to be mocked as a 12 year old. You should be happy to be pegged only as a pre-teen and not younger. If you can't follow simple single sentences you should go back to trading Baseball Cards until you're better able to follow.

While I agree with you, I think the argument is that there are those...quite likely some in these fora...who would support the government keeping out port shops and strip clubs, while simultaneously saying that the government should not be making that act against Chik-Fil-A.

I humbly disagree, though this isn't a major quibble.
The Bible is still riff with sexism, and so is our culture. All it takes is for the wrong person to interpret the Bible in a way that brings out the sexist attitudes. Of course, you're seeing sexism everyday in our politics with the God party, the Republican party, and their war on women. You're also seeing it from the Church, who is supporting their war on women. You still see it in American Christian cults, like Mormonism, where children are being married off to horny elderly men. We as a nation wont have eroded sexism until we've tossed out the Bible completely. Our nation is just as sexist an any country, only we're not as oppressive. But as long as everyone believes in the Bible, the framework for an oppressive society is still in front of us.
