Knocking ladders

Post by dakky21 »

Map Name: Ladders
Mapmaker(s): no one
Number of Territories: 112
Special Features: knocking the ladder down
What Makes This Map Worthy of Being Made: unique gameplay

Idea: unique gameplay, all players start on the bottom of their ladders, and ascend to the top. When on top, holding the top position of a ladder for one round, resets all troops on that ladder to neutral, even your own. The game is over when a player holds top of all 8 ladders for one round (objective win).

If the neutral troops are placed correctly and bonuses exist, this could make a very interesting gameplay, since when you get to the top, there is no more descending or bonuses, and if someone else gets on top, you're chances for survival are really slim, unless you plan your ascend...

Seems like something like this would be almost wholly dependent on dice success as you conquer the neutrals. What sort of unique strategy could be implemented?

This was my first thought as well. A Chutes and Ladders map would involve more strategy I think.

Well this is melting pot isn't it ? I'm wondering if this can even be done, can it be coded that "if holding one territory for one round, another territory(es) get to neutral"

Like koontz said it's not possible right now. We'd need an update for that to work. But an intriguing suggestion. This map wouldn't be workable even if the coding allowed it. Far too unstable. Too much luck involved, very little strategy/choice. But you bring an interesting point up. "Holding a certain region = nuking other certain regions", would be something I'd like to see implemented.

Funnily enough, gameplay wise, this is very similar to the St Paddy's day map!
