HELP

So I go to USA next month in 3 weeks time, just wondering who knows any dirt cheap accommodation in Florida? in case the person picking me up from the airport doesn't actually pick me up...

Where are you flying in to?

Youth Hostels are usually a good option for a night, but otherwise, your best bet would be to go and have a chat with a tourist information desk.

Im flying into palm beach international airport, cos was going to riveria beach, im not sure i classify as youth anymore hehe, and ive tried googling, but it haard, cos cant find cheap anything

I don't live in Florida yet. Two more weeks til I move to Tampa. Also, my wife. Otherwise I'd be all over meeting strange people from foreign places.

Well, there ya go. Even though that listing Dukasaur posted had a grand total of zero hostels in the entire southeast, a half-assed googling does bring some up. I've never had to stay at a hostel here, what with having friends and family and such, but that's useful to know.

Why would you want to stay at youth hostels, aren't you supposed to be a grown up?

Try Gatorland Lodge - rooms are $29 per night and if you successfully wrestle their 50 year old she-gator, Large Marge, you get a coupon for a second night free. Breakfast is included (steak and eggs). Recommend you bring your own sheets, though. A can of Lysol wouldn't hurt, either.

From Florida Airport, just go any direction and you'll get there. If you hear banjo music you've gone too far west and crossed into Georgia. If you see a bunch of elderly Jewish couples you've gone too far east and are at Belle Isle retirement center. If everyone is speaking a strange language, you either went too far south and are in Cuba, or went too far north and are in Boston.
  • edit ... Just heard the gators have broken free at Gatorland. All rooms are now $10 off but my advice is to avoid it until they've been able to account for them all. You do NOT want to try to take a shower and find a She-Gator nesting in the tub. Can ruin a holiday.

If you reveal enough skin it should be pretty easy to get picked up at the airport.
