Hey, I just read the news, Andy. I've said it before in this thread but never did it ring truer than now "Times they are a changin'".
There are plenty of positive things going on but this challenging year isn't over yet.

Lookit how freaking jacked that ape is!!!
My Uncle Used to work at the San Diego Zoo and he said that the chimps are amazingly strong. He told me a story about one time a garden hose slipped through the bars in the cage and they were trying to get it back but the chimp wanted it. Apparently the chimp grabbed the hose at two places at one point during the struggle and was able snap it in two easily.

I like the zoo but maybe we go too often. I skipped the one in Melbourne to go explore some music stores and the casino, lead to a fight in a gas station parking lot later in the trip with the wife.

In Waikiki we went to theirs. It was ok wandered in the morning, the rest of my wife's family left after lunch. So we see the rest of the zoo ending with the Chimpanzies. We're going to leave and I notice they're gathering under a ledge. I tell my wife we have to stay because I figure there's a reason. Sure enough a woman shows up on top of the ledge with food.

By far that was the coolest feeding times I've ever seen. They were in small groups and doing all sorts of things to get noticed, very entertaining.

I love zoos.
I was at a zoo in florida (don't remember which) and there was a huge enclosure with orangutans in and there was a tank top in there that they were passing around. One of them would take it off and throw it and another of them would chase after it, pick it up and put it on. It was really fun to watch. Then I noticed that someone had thrown them some chewing gum and one of them was lying on his back and pulling the gum out of his mouth in a long string, watching it all the way and letting it drop on his stomach. He would then pull it back into his mouth little by little with his lips until it was all back in and repeat. My brother and I were loving every minute of it.

We used to have an Orangutan here but it was all by it's self. I took my mom's step dad a life time farmer to the zoo when he was in his 70s and he looked at every animal for like a couple of seconds then moved on. We stopped at the Orang for over half an hour. Then finally he turned to me and said. "Let's go. I'll buy you a hamburger." then at lunch he said, "That monkey sure was something. I never seen anything like that in my life."

You'd think they'd have evolved into human posts by now.

Or at least that weird third guy who is only half covered in hair, like my old science teacher.

*GASP!* Mothers, turn you little monkey's away for the image above is graphic in nature. It is of a banana being mauled by a flying creature that steals monkey's bananas!

Someone should go become a member of all other websites and report back.
