That's a fantastic catch! I wonder if it was intentional when the Classic map was first created long, long ago to leave that connection out or not. The Classic map was a revamp of Classic Shapes, which was a replacement for the original Classic map (but that was before my time) =).

copyright issues? I doubt they would fail to see the real connections from the original game or forget about them... maybe to be safer they needed a little modification on the map itself, not just changing regions to capitals..

Conversely, if someone is a newb in the insult sense, then they are by definition not actually a newb, and don't qualify for nominations here.
I've played a few online games in my day and noob is not a nice word, even if you've just started. It's generally considered a slur.
Well that's because Men have been Pussified. It's about as much of a slur as douchebag. It's only offensive if it's not true.

Here is the Wikipedia definition:
Newbie, newb, n00b or noob is a slang term for a novice or newcomer, or somebody inexperienced in any profession or activity. Contemporary use can particularly refer to a beginner or new user of computers, often concerning Internet activity, such as online gaming[1] or Linux use.[2][3] It can have derogatory connotations, but is also often used for descriptive purposes only, without a value judgment.

I am using it here for descriptive purposes only for fucking assholes (also used for descriptive purposes only).

If you want a history of the classic board game we all know and love, the connections that appeared or disappeared etc., you have to go to Robinette

This was a joke. Perhaps not a very funny one, but I don't mean it seriously funky.

If you are on the corner of a "out of a game" knockout and you KNOW you are going to lose, kamikaze can help inflict a good amount of damage before death. It's bad to do early and mid game because you don't know if you'll lose. I even done some personal kamikazes myself, but it didn't really help and it net me the loss. So it balances in 50 / 50 on the scale currently. Unless the owner of this site implants a new kamikaze setting.

Newb
A person who is not very good at the game they are playing. Often get Pwned by Kyle, well not often, they always do.
G: Dooooode u just pwned that newb.

This stops players in January from having an undue advantage. Unfortunately, it gives Octoberites an undue advantage, but it has to split up somewhere.

That depends; how many people can you vote for? Funky's already voted himself :P
The both of us have join dates from 2+ years back, but only seem to have gotten involved in the past year.

oh yeah, waterman is defintely my new player of the year. the guy is here since 3-4 month and has already reached brig, he's got almost as many games played as me, he's already entered a clan, dropped the clan and created his own clan lol.

other than this i don't like the noob's comment about playing kamikaze, I dont agree with it as it's completely the definition of throwing a game (unles he's talking about 1vs1, or going for an unlikely elimination in terminator, or an escalating/flat rate game vs a guy that could give a good return on risk ratio with his spoils)

I nominate cyrpilou. Even though he is two years old, he still acts like a newb, primarily by giving just about everyone he plays a poor rating; usually because they beat him or refused to be his ally or attacked him. Basically, if you do anything that does not positively affect him, he'll tank your rating. I definitely think this awards him special consideration as 2012 Newb of the Year.

As further evidence, please view his ratings page here: http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?m ... e=cyrpilou

there you go doom, another one that doesn't get what you mean by newb. i think that "new player of the year award" with no "newb" in front would be less contraversial.

Thanks for the compliment but I am pretty sure I can nominate and vote for as many people as I want; yoshi's threads are so wonderfully lax and the rules so fuzzy it's pretty much a free-for-all.

As much as that angers me, I guess you are right. The Internet ruined the Internet.
