True enough...Admired like celebrity. I won't flame your royalty, but you have to admit they are now nothing but figureheads with no real power. People flock to see them and where they live because of their celebrity.
Which one was that?Backglass was responding to your insult. He didn't start it.
Panama is geographically very close, and probably get loads of US tourists, so understandable. Japan, Australia and Italy? I find that plausable. Developed countries accepting foriegn currency...Definately got to be only in large retail sections near the airports or something....When I went to Australia and Venice (which is pretty much solely a tourist city) they only accepted Euros and Aussie Dollars....Hmmm, lets see. I've spent U.S. CASH in Japan, Austrailia, Hong Kong (albeit before China took it back), Singapore, Thailand, Phillipines, Panama, Barbados, Italy, and Egypt. Just off the top of my head.
People go to the better ones because you are close to guaranteed to get a very good paying job when you finish. I just find the amounts you have to pay to be ridiculous though. People are complaining about £3k a year here, I would hate it if my parents had to pay around your level. So U.S. universities cost more and yet more & more people choose to go to them.
You get what you pay for I guess.
I know that. I never said differently."Technically" if you wanted them back, you would be out of luck.
USA has a higher rate of friendly fire then they should, especially considering the accuracy and technology in the missiles and bombs nowadays...Of course. Friendly fire has occurred in every military since time began, but thats not what you are saying. You are saying they "love it", which I am sure they do not.
The troops in Iraq are in support of him to fight atm. Also, to track him down will be very hard, and I cannot see any of the miliant groups delibately attacking him. If he does get involved in a fight, it will just be a routine attack imo.But to send him into Iraq, where he will be target #1 and needlessly put others at increased risk is foolish in my opinion.
Very funny...Thats because hes the US President, slightly different. Also, when he visits its different, its about politics. When the Queen visits its noramlly a visit/holiday kinda thing. Also, does he get a grand welcome? Isn it just a limo drive up to the front steps of wherever and a hand shake?George W. Bush gets many invites and grand welcomes. He must be admired the world over!
And when did I say that? Btw, America has the highest percentage of fat people, so in essence that stereotype comes from fact. You mean like all Americans are fat idiots?
Nooooo. When you compare two very similar countries, if one has a substancially larger population you can expect it to better in most areas. Obviously you cant compare China, because there not as developed as us. On that note, did you see that Maths test entry to get into a Chinese university. Pretty tough. They got the right thing in making maths compulsary till 18....Sooo...the larger the population the better the schools? Great ! I'm sending my kids to Beijing University!
That was just an example of one thing...talk about taking it out of proportion... I never said the UK was better or that America got its arse kicked or is piss-poor (its got a higher GDP per person ffs). Btw, banking capital of the world? You do know that the City of London actually has more American banks then NYC?Oh shit, I just saw that the UK has "the highest percentage of mobile phones per person in the world." Damn, looks like us Americans got our asses kicked. Even though the US is bigger, more powerful, with a better army, the financial capital of the world, and the banking capital of the world, the UK has a higher cell phone per person ratio!

I'm afraid the difference is that America is the current global hegemon and sole superpower...Wayfarer wrote:I simply love how everybody yells at everybody else and rarely recalls their own countries crimes. Sure, anybody can say American's suck balls, but what about the other 245 sovereign states in the world? Just because America is bad, doesn't mean all the other entities of the world aren't.

Guiscard, I agree with you. America does happen to be the worlds most powerful Country. Unfortunately, for everyone The1exile hit it dead on.
Cuz, we have Bush, and everybody now hates him, and we wish he would die. But, short of an assassination, that isn't going to happen. So all we can do is wait until Bush leaves, and hope our next %($&) president is intelligent.

Yer...a little....People who dismiss America's foreign policy as 'stupid' annoy me nearly as much as people who think it was for moral reasons... Any study of international relations and foreign policy will show you that everything is a carefully calculated move, with all the consequences weighed up... Unfortunately in this case the calculations were a little off...
Oh yeh definitely... I'm talking more on an international scale. The major moves are all very calculated, its just the situations on the ground where there are so many variables and factors which couldn't have been foreseen (or the experts who do see them are ignored) which makes the gamble not pay off.Titanic wrote:I think it was more ignorace then mis-calculation. They way over-estimated the Iraqi reaction to the invasion and the power vacuum they created by overthrowing the Ba'ath party and the army and the police among other things.

If you seriously think that the current foreign policy is 100% Bush's idea then you've got to be pretty ignorant. Iraq would have been a very clever move if it had been pulled off. The Bush administration has played a pretty risky gamble, and ultimately not quite pulled it off, but it was a very good (if entirely immoral) move foreign policy wise. Maybe if you vote in someone stupid enough to think they can actually be moral then there might be a chance.
