Any person who has reached conqueror status retains the conqueror icon as their displayed icon, even after they are no longer on top of the scoreboard.

They would still move up and down the scoreboard in rank and score; they would just keep the same icon.
How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
It requires a bit of work and dedication to reach the top of the scoreboard, and I think a nice reward is to have that effort rewarded by letting everyone know that you once reached the top. It's similar to the idea that here in the US, we give a former president the honorific title "Mr. President" even after they have left office.

This is probably not trivial to code.
I think it's enough with the medal. Shows that they once were conquerors but doesn't make it look like they still are.
