Suggestion for new forum rule

Post by Spockers »

Something that really annoys me in the forums is when the post directly above the current one is quoted in full then responded to. What's the point?

This is especially annoying when it is a particularly long post.

This is double especially annoying when it is just to people posting back and forth to each other quoting each other every time complete with quotes of quotes of quotes etc...

This is even more annoying, in the foundry forum particularly, when large pictures are quoted and re quoted.

So, in short my new rules would be:

1. Please do not quote post directly above yours
2. Please avoid including images in your quotes unless absolutely necessary.

Cheers.

Ya… We all hate that. I think that this should be in the Guidlines.
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

I'm not sure this is something the ModSquad would really want to police throughout the whole forum. I understand where you are coming from, as such things can annoy me also, but I think it'd be nearly impossible for us police such a rule. It seems like a rather fruitless effort.

What you (and the community) can do, is simply mention to people who are doing it, to cease it if it messes up the flow of the thread. I think generally for the most people will be responsive. :)

I understand that's why its done.

I think you will find that people generally aren't idiots and can make sense of it.

If you are not confident of that, then just start your post with their name so its obvious which post you are referring to.
