Maybe even one without the multiple-colors-per-continent as well? Possibly slightly thicker black lines (non-crossable borders) might be nice too...

and
unhomogenised
both with thicker uncrossable borders & a bit smaller, so you can see what that would look like (700x700)
are they thick enough yet?
or do I have to apply a random brown streak/smudge for it to be recognised? ;o)

I think they're thick enough.

What are peoples thoughts regarding homenisation?

I would go with the homogenized. They both look decent because the colors are closer in the unhomogenized one (which makes the continents clearer) but I think they are so close it kind of looks like a mistake as you skim across the page. I hardly noticed the squares weren't the same color but when I did it just struck me as a bit odd. Anyway, I think they both look good so I won't be very hurt if you choose the other way :)
