It is a big step as far as professional sports in the U.S. goes. There have been professional athletes who were gay and their teammates knew about it (Glen Berks or something like that way back in the day), but not essentially telling everyone in the league, where there may be opponents who will use it as fodder against them.whitestazn88 wrote:It's a big step in the realm of American, and in general, culture, having an active, outed, athlete in one of the major sports leagues. I hate this place and you guys are probably just gonna talk about stupid shit. But, go ahead. Discuss
Yes Phatscotty, we all know you hate the gay.Phatscotty wrote:
Because we shouldn't start conversations about things we're not already talking about? Is that actually what you mean?Phatscotty wrote:...yeah. A thread who's title asks why nobody is talking about the topic matter, soooo much potential!nietzsche wrote:

Good point. It actually takes more courage today to "come out" and say that marriage is what it always has been.muy_thaiguy wrote:Meh. Everyone and their sister is coming out. He's gay, he's gay. Whatever. "Coming out" has kind of lost impact.
FYI, just a personal opinion. I don't care if people are gay, straight, bi, celibate, whatever. If you're not hurting anyone, I don't really care what you do.
It's not a big deal.Juan_Bottom wrote:I don't get what the big deal is about being gay.
Because people like you want to oppress them, that's why.Night Strike wrote:There was no thread because it's not a real news story. Why is it so important that the world knows who someone else has sex with?
It takes more courage to blatantly lie? I suppose you could call that courage, of a sort.Phatscotty wrote:Good point. "Live and let live". Unless you want to get married. Or be able to take care of your partner's wishes after their death. Or be able to make decisions on their care. Yeah...live and let live, right?Phatscotty wrote:It's not a big deal.Juan_Bottom wrote:I don't get what the big deal is about being gay.
Some people are making it a big deal. Some people are even trying to fundamentally transform our entire society, a little more than a big deal you might say.
Some people would just like to live and let live.
Incorrect. Please learn what "oppression" means.Woodruff wrote:Because people like you want to oppress them, that's why.Night Strike wrote:There was no thread because it's not a real news story. Why is it so important that the world knows who someone else has sex with?
