After hearing the discussions, perhaps the safest route to consider is sticking with traditional key groupings (or some kind of collection) or limiting the amount of words. I know it may not be as fancy and as neat as an idea, but it sure seems like it would be tedious, though interesting gameplay. Perhaps using a similar idea to the Space Map/Crossword...you could for example have:
You could either own the perhaps harder to keep but larger bonus Qwerty, or the smaller Wasd. Or perhaps you could have the 'Home Row' (ASDFGHJKL) be one also. It'd be hideously hard to keep, depending on how the other keys are divided.
As for other key groupings if you did end up going this route:
--Home Row
--Gamer
(If you used a keyboard as opposed to type writer, Arrow keys(or wasd) and perhaps space bar, along with maybe a shift key/ctrl.)
--The ones listed above...
I'm starting to ramble now.
Maybe looking into variants of qwerty (
see here). Or perhaps pick a few CC-esque words and simply eliminate the other keys not needed (make then just background, and not apart of the game field). All of this is still a bit difficult. Good luck trying whatever you do.
