Conquer Casino Poker Tournament [Needs Rescued]

Post by D-Rock42 »

Some rule changes were implemented during the tournament. Those changes can be found in this post.

Welcome to Conquer Casino! Here in the Poker Room, you can sign up for the (first?) Conquer Casino Poker Tournament. I'm D-Rock, and I'll be your dealer for the tournament. This tournament will be limited to 16 players who will be divided evenly between two tables. Each player will be given 500 chips to start the tournament, the blinds will start at 1-2, and go up every 10 hands according to the schedule below. Each hand will consist of the dealer revealing the map for the hand, and players betting, calling, raising, and folding based on the players' own perceived ability on that map. The deck will be the standard Conquer Casino playing deck (all maps excluding holiday & beta maps, randomized by random.org), with jokers (random map is a possible selection), and each table will use their own deck (the map lists will be randomized twice & each table will be playing different maps each hand). When the field has been pared to 8 players, the tables will combine for the final table, and the deck will be reshuffled (a new randomization of the map list). Players may be moved from one table to the other if they become unbalanced (the difference in number of players between the two tables is two or greater).

Hand Play
At the beginning of each hand, the dealer will list the players at the table, along with chip counts. He will also put the blinds, and in later rounds, antes, into the pot, turn over the card (announce the map for that hand), and indicate whose action is first. This will be the only time a player will be required to wait for the dealer. If it is your turn, please act, do not wait for the dealer. Each player may raise, call, or fold when it is his/her turn. Standard poker rules apply here: each raise must be at least as big as the previous bet or raise that hand, unless a player does not have that much, then that player may be delcared all-in. A player may bet all of his/her chips at any point.

Table Stakes
A player may not be pushed out of a hand because s/he does not have enough chips to call a bet. If a player wishes to call such a bet, the player would be declared all in, but only be eligible for the portion of the pot equal to his/her bet & the matching bets/calls from the other players in the hand. If an all-in player wins the hand (game), the player finishing second will win the side pot (and if necessary, player finishing third will win second side pot, etc).

Ties
All games will be limited to 20 rounds. If multiple players survive through round 20, the hand will considered a tie and the pot will be split among the survivors, regardless of how the CC software awards victory.

Tournament Settings
Map:Random selection, to be revealed before each hand
Round Limit: 20
All other settings will be the CC defaults, with the (small) possibility of switching to Freestyle turn order if the Tournament Organizer feels the tournament is moving too slowly (this would not happen for a long while, the TO is patient ;) ).

Minimum Requirements
As this a experimental tournament structure, the following minimum standards will be set for participants: Each player should have at least 100 games completed, with 98% or higher of turns taken, and 4.7 or higher community rating. Each player should also have at least a passing familiarity with playing poker, especially no limit Texas hold 'em, which this tournament is modeled after. Additionally each player would click the "follow this thread" link for his/her assigned table & check at least twice a day with at least eight hours between each checking of the thread.

Ideal Participant
The ideal participant in this tournament meets all of the above minima, as well as has participated in enough live hold 'em tournaments to the point that s/he is usually aware of the action at the table & does not be reminded by the dealer to act in turn. The ideal participant would also check in multiple times a day, throughout the day. A polite player would announce when s/he would be away for an extended period & sit out until s/he returns.

Reserve Policy
There will be no reserves for this tournament. If a player misses betting action or is kicked out of a game for missing three consecutive turns, s/he will be "sitting out." That player's blinds and antes will be posted in turn & his/her hand will be folded before action begins for that hand, until such time that player announces in the table's forum thread his/her return.

Winning/Losing the Tournament
The winner will be the person who collects all the chips in the tournament, or if the tournament reaches its one year anniversary the winner will be the player with the most chips at the conclusion of the hand in play at the time of the anniversary (I don't expect this tournament to take that long, but I just don't know, and wish to plan for all contigencies - CC tournament rules say tournaments should be designed to be completed in less than one year).

(Additionally, since it is theoretically possible, though highly unlikely, for a player to win only playing one hand, and CC tournament rules require any winner of a tournament to have played at least three games in that tournament:) If someone collects all the chips in the tournament without having played at least 3 games, all players who were eliminated in the last hand will be given one of the smallest denomination chip in use at that time of the tournament, and play will resume as normal.

If a player loses all his chips, s/he will be out of the tournament (with the (unlikely) exception noted in the previous paragraph).

Bleh. It's not even the first one this year. I should learn to search.

Not the first poker tournament, but I think you have a good setup here. I entered the tournament in the database.

As for our previous discussion, I don't really think you need more threads for this. But, if you think it will help, it's fine with me. You can create one thread per table and have it be in the General Discussion forum for tournaments, which is located here: https://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=89

Good luck.

Thanks. I'll start with both tables in this thread, if it gets too confusing, I'll split them out to there.
