Do you think jay_a2j works for Fox News?

Post by Utafar »

Cause the only links to news he has ever posted is to foxnews.com (unless I'm mistaken), or he could just use the site for his source for news on the internet......

Nope, Jay works for Jesus. And the Republican party.

Hmm. Much like Fox news.

Maybe Jay *IS* Fox news.

That would certainly explain headline stories such as this:

Lets see, its the youngest network of the "big guns" and they're #1. So, yeah, I guess you can say that.

I doubt there is any single reliable news source, unless you're there yourself when it happens. Always take the details with a grain of salt. For example: about 2 months ago I was at a demonstration against tuition fees at German universities. I read a news report the next day which claimed that "several hundred students" had "stormed" the building where the vote was held after a decision had been reached how high this fee would be. The senate had already left the building and a door had been damaged.

The overall impression was that "several hundred" angry students had, more or less violently, entered the building and tried to "attack" the senate, which had been able to flee just in time.

My impression was that between 200 and 300 students entered the building calmly a few minutes after the vote had been held, amazingly calmly when considering the emotions which the topic has aroused in Germany. At most 1 or 2 dozen of them had whistles and the rest got thoroughly annoyed at them for making such a racket in a confined space. At most 5 or 6 had concealed their faces and were banging on said door. They left pretty quickly. I had a pretty good view, too, since I was at the top of the stairs and about 4 or 5 meters from said door.

So... not really anything wrong, but not exactly right either.

And after the presidential elections in France I heard on the radio that some groups had threatened with violent protests, but that things had remained peaceful for the most part. Later I heard that there had been street battles with the police. Again, once does not exactly exclude the other. "Mainly peaceful" and "street battles with the police" are not mutually exclusive, France is a pretty big country and you can focus on different regions. But still you get very different impressions.

And talking about Fox News, that story about the statue was good, it got me to google it, look at other articles (though it really seems they're all copying and pasting each other) and look at a photo of it, I think it's pretty good statue, too, and might even be good as a comment on many peoples mentality towards their leaders. Even though I can't remember ever putting such hopes in a politician, or any person for that matter, as the work of this artist suggests.

You sir, are correct.

Every journalist has a master, every media outlet has an owner; all of which have agendas which reflect in the medium they produce, be it print, video, etc.

When someone tells you whats happening, they are telling you for a reason, with a personal bias and to influence your thought in a particular fashion. Exactly as said above, take it with a grain of salt.

I work for a newspaper, granted an "alternative" weekly, but we're owned by a media conglomerate so the same rules apply.
