The japs aren t that bad in winter olympics mate. They usually finish top 10.DoomYoshi wrote:I had Japan at 220 000:1 to win both the most gold medals and the most medals.
Not looking good.

That one finishes top 5.DoomYoshi wrote:I think you have Japan confused with another country with a red and white flag.

It's not sexist. With exceptions, men are better than women at some things, women are better than men at some things, and that is perfectly okay.Lootifer wrote:My first, slightly sexist, observation so far is that Mens are startlingly better at flipping and spinning than Woman are. I didn't think the difference would be so extreme but triple back flips and BS 1440's vs cab 360's... It really struck me as odd.

No, Austria only finished 2nd in Innsbruck and Cortina d'Ampezzo, 3rd in Turin and Chamonix and 4th in Albertville and Lake Placid; 5th in Grenoble and Oslo.betiko wrote:That one finishes top 5.DoomYoshi wrote:I think you have Japan confused with another country with a red and white flag.
nope norway!!!! crap that needs a bit of blue... ok you got me. well I was talking about peru actually. great machu pichu skiers.DoomYoshi wrote:No, Austria only finished 2nd in Innsbruck and Cortina d'Ampezzo, 3rd in Turin and Chamonix and 4th in Albertville and Lake Placid; 5th in Grenoble and Oslo.betiko wrote:That one finishes top 5.DoomYoshi wrote:I think you have Japan confused with another country with a red and white flag.
The Chamonix barely counts, they did that with 3 medals.
So out of 21 games, Austria has been top 5 8 times, top 10 20 times and not placed in the top 10 only once.
I wouldn't say "that one finishes top 5"
Then I thought... maybe he is talking about Switzerland... but they are also normally top 10 but not normally top 5:
Switzerland has 5 top 5, 15 top 10, 6 not placed
Switzerland kind of sucks at Olympics. When they hosted, they got 1 bronze.
Japan is a dark horse. In Sapporo, they ended up 11th.

The Halfpipe itself was kind of a mess, even though crews there worked their butts off attempting to make it better, but the temperature isn't cooperating. I realize all competitors have to deal with the same rough surface and slop in the flats and Shaun just came up short. His 95.5 semi qualifier was the high mark of the event, but he couldn't match it in the finals.betiko wrote:Ohhh my godd Shaun White 4th!!!!
And double japs silver & bronze!!
Too bad for Shaun, this guy is sooo above the rest. I m really amazed... 3 mistakes!! And he managed to keep an amplitude and not to fall... This guy s ballance is nuts!

I can answer that. Cause we only care about real sports like hockey. Cross-country, biathlon, snowboard, curling etc. is marginal sports that people only care about every fourth year. Norways hockeyteam sucks so they have to make up for it in the marginal sports.betiko wrote:No one watched the half pipe then??
I heard it s the one that gets the best audience, and Shaun White is the best paid wintersports athlete.
Anyways, why are Norwegians always so good and Swedes always so bad? I know they have almost no mountains, but any cross country, biathlon ect doesn t need mountains.
