Proper results take time to analyze and fix. Unless you want them to proverbially throw darts randomly hoping to fix it wasting time resources energy on things that don't ultimately address the issue.
I realise that and from what I understand time and energy is being devoted for a permanent solution. I was just being loud.

Hmm.. no.

The thing is, it doesn't really take that much time to find out what's wrong. My guess is the either they downgraded in hosting service or there's some kind of memory leak or "cpu usage leak" due to a mistake in coding or even a control (maybe the new adjustable panels) issue here. In the latter, it wouldn't take that much time to debug. So I'm starting to believe that bigwham took over, saw the bills and decided to go down a notch in the hosting service.

My assumptions are based in the fact that there hasn't really been a big increase in bw demand, and that the lag started to appear after the panel changes.

Just another game to show how it sucks to play speed games now:

[Game]http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=13922642[/Game]

I had plenty of time to end my turn and get a card. But no. Miss a card, lose the game.

It's very frustrating

My 2 posts were a joke. Seems people here are getting to serious? Or really upset with the lag. I have noticed things going slow on my turns and it is annoying. Glad I don't play freestyle or speed games often.

At some point when we were facing each other to collect those stamps around christmas, i went to check your active games to see what was taking you so long.. And you had like 100 active, no wonder you feel like keeping your game count way lower!! :)
I think the best is 15 ish.
Absolutely!

Many players burn out here playing 50+ games at a time. Is it some weird need to 'get ones money's worth'?
No, for the most part it's just the slow accumulation of things one can't say "no" to.

I was doing really good for a while, got my game count down below 40, but then the following happened:
  • In December came the first official DoomYoshis Monthly Challenge. How could one not be part of the "first ever"? Maybe these Challenges will peter out and turn into nothing, or maybe they will one day become the most famous feature of the site. It's unthinkable to me that I would face future generations of CCers and say, "yeah, I had a chance to get in the very first one and I turned it down." So, I tried for it, and if my first few games had gone well it probably would have ended at that, but in my first ten or twelve games I got atrocious drops and atrocious dice, and it's not a setting I'm good at anyway, so I had to keep joining more. Most of them are done now, but there's still 3 ongoing.
    • That's three games.
  • Also in December came sempai's 2013 Year in Review Challenge. Absolutely the best Contest/Challenge/Tournament that I've ever been part of on this site. It led me to a lot of really exciting games, and I don't regret them for a minute. However, since it was too difficult to predict the winner of the 10, 11, and 12-player games, I had to join a lot of those in order to be sure of winning one. Again, there's a hangover, and about a dozen of those are still ongoing.
    • That's twelve more games.
  • Some of the people in the 12-player games asked for a rematch, and I kind-of enjoyed the 12-player dynamic, so I said yes to something like four or five of them.
    • That's four more games.
  • Right after December came the Anniversary celebrations, and of course you only get one chance a year to sign up for some Sequential BRs on anything except Colosseum, and you have to get a full year's worth all at once.
    • That's eight more games.
  • Speaking of Sequential BRs on Colosseum...
    • That's two more games.
  • Also in December was the launch of Autotournaments, and of course I signed up for a couple.
    • That's seven more games.
  • As an SoC graduate, I consider it my duty to sign up for at least one open SoC game every month. Just like you send your annual donation to your alma mater's Building Fund or whatever, it's just a matter of good citizenship.
    • That's one more game.
  • I'm also part of the SoC's 1v1 ladder, and someone just challenged me. I can't turn down a challenge without looking like a coward (and slipping 1 rung down the ladder) so of course I accept.
    • That's three more games.
  • I've got one clan game on the go. (Only one?!?! Benga must be really pissed off at me after the last one I fucked up. )
    • That's one more game.
  • I'm still miles away from my platinum in Random map, my gold in Assassin, and my platinum in Terminator. So, every month I try to be diligent and join a few Assassins and Terminators on Random map.
    • That's five more games.
  • I don't play in as many tournaments as I used to, but once you sign up for a tournament, it might go on for months or years, and you never know when another batch of games will come out. Usually when you're too busy in R/L and you would like anything on earth other than more damn games. From old tournaments that I signed up for long time ago...
    • That's ten more games.
  • Sometimes new tournaments come along that simply deserve my support, because they are really good, either in terms of tournament design, or in terms of graphics and supporting flavour, or because they're run by some friendly chap who has helped me out in the past.
    • That's twenty more games.
  • And of course there's invitations from friends that you say yes to because you don't want to be a dick.
    • That's three more game.
  • One of the social groups I'm in has a Map of the Month challenge. Usually takes me about six to eight games to cement my lead.
    • That's six more games.
  • And last but not least there's tournaments I'm running where some asshole quits at the last minute, and I decide to jump into the game instead of taking a week to sign up a replacement player.
    • That's two more games.
So yeah, it doesn't take long to get a game count in the 90s. Some good tournaments here, a medal that you're chasing there, a few worthy challenges and contests... There isn't any game I'm in that, taken in isolation, I regret joining. I just wish they weren't all at once, but often one has no control over when tournaments or challenges begin.

Shows how bad the lag is on this site. Chris makes a joke that lagged so badly even our resident religious figure was unable to see the truth, which is a difficult thing for a religious figure to admit!

Bollocks.

I really do not understand how so many of you can play this game (incessantly) for many, many years.
The New maps are nice...it is still a game of risk.
Why? How? Why???

I got burned out on risk, years ago.
The Lag sucks, the dice sucks, the players suck.
Nothing has changed and nothing will change.
Silly wrabbit, Risk is for kids.

It's the principle of paying for a product that doesn't work. Is that really that far fetched or funny?

Unbeliavable that it has taken so long. Since I wouldn't want to believe they haven't finished checking all the code bottlenecks and the new controls, I'll give a hint, if I can be so bold and they can be so humble as to take it: research the hardware devices that rackspace is using, it's definetely a problem of latency and not of bandwidth, so it might be that one of the networking devices has an issue when reaching a certain overload. Sometimes it's easy to find online, sometimes you just have to try another device.

My understanding was that the lag had been fixed. I haven't had a problem last few days, anyway.
