[Med]Redo How Bot Medals are Awarded

Concise description:

• Design a more intuitive system for bot medals.

Specifics/Details:

• So, the current system is:
  • Bronze: 200 wins vs whamBot
  • Silver: Bronze + 200 wins vs SassboT
  • Gold: Silver + 200 wins vs saxibot
  • Platinum: Gold + 200 wins vs whatever level 4 bot is made
  I think it would be better (and what seems to be suggested here) if it was like this:
  • Bronze: 200 wins against any bot
  • Silver: 400 bot wins with a max of 200 coming from level 1 bot
  • Gold: 600 bot wins with a max of 200 coming from level 1 bot and a max of [400-(level 1 bot wins)] coming from level 2 bot
  • Platinum: 200 wins against level 4 bot + 600 more wins with a max of 200 coming from level 1 and max of [400 - (level 1 wins)] coming from level 2 bot.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:

• Let's you play the 'smarter' bots and be rewarded for it sooner.
• What's MORE deserving of a gold medal, the current system or 600 games against saxibot? Think about it. This is a no brainer.

Well, it's not worded that way, but I think that should be silver too. So, the level 1 bot wins should bump up a level 2 win.

Makes sense to me. It was clear to me what you were saying, but maybe you should change the wording anyway because the technical rules that will be used would maybe look more like this:

Bronze: 200 bot wins
Silver: 400 bot wins and 200 of which v. SassBot or higher

Plat: 800 wins and 200 of which v. Lvl 4 bot

That's also a little off from what it is. In yours it sounds like you could play 600 level 1 games and 200 level 4 for platinum. I'll reword the OP.

This is not necessarily more intuitive. It wouldn't be obvious that you'd need a certain fraction of wins against the higher bots for the better medals. However, I do agree that this makes more sense.

Well, not more intuitive to code, but more intuitive for medals to be awarded is what I meant. It came from the Q&A Forum because someone was asking why they weren't getting awarded wins toward the bronze medal for beating saxibot (level 3). That's what I meant by intuitive.

... and now it sounds as confusing as any other way that it's been presented. But we're all talking about the same thing.

So, not a platinum medal:

600 whambot games and 200 lvl 4 games would not be a platinum

Is a platinum medal:

600 Saxi games and 200 lvl 4 games would be; or

800 Lvl 4 games would also qualify

Even if it doesn t concern me anymore.. Any of these bots is a freaking pain in the butt to have to be faced that many times.
I really had to be a filthy medal slut to go for it.

Other than this, chap s suggextion makes total sense. If you have 200 sassbot wins and 0 whambot wins... You re at 0 unike kills.... A bit dumb.
Only problem is that it s difficult to word syntheticly.

I think you should remove the part where you subtract off the wins on the lower levels to determine the cap. It amounts to saying that I can't count as many level 2 bot wins towards a gold medal because I made the mistake of winning on the lower levels.

Well, it's not worded that way, ...

Yes, it is.

Your original post clearly indicates that for any medals, only x amount can be against the lesser bots.

Bronze: 200 wins against any bot
Silver: 400 bot wins with a max of 200 coming from level 1 bot
Gold: 600 bot wins with a max of 200 coming from level 1 bot and a max of [400-(level 1 bot wins)] coming from level 2 bot
Platinum: 200 wins against level 4 bot + 600 more wins with a max of 200 coming from level 1 and max of [400 - (level 1 wins)] coming from level 2 bot.

So. They could play higher bots first, then lower bots, and still get all the medals. Nothing wrong with that.

OR they could choose to play very few of their games against lower bots to get their medals, and get them as long as they meet the number requirement and as long as they play at least a minimum against the higher bots.
