CC Dispatch [Issue 115] Easter Eggstravaganza

Post by Dukasaur »

Welcome Comrades to the 115th edition of the Conquer Club Dispatch...:)

As we head into this Easter Eggstravaganza, we thought we should bring you a special edition introducing some of the many events happening around the site. We also have regular coverage from our tournament team, and a few other special tidbits.

The first part of the Easter "Megaegg" Celebrations came with an event allowing CC artists to produce the designs for the special-event eggs that are part of this celebration. Here are the winning submissions:

Here are the winning eggs, the players responsible for them, and the titles they have been given for the event:

5th place - Hannibal 19! Image "The Space Egg"
4th place - dakky21! Image "The Gift Egg"
3rd place - jonofperu! Image "The Greek Egg"
2nd place - dakky21 (again!) Image "The Bomb Egg"
1st place - EBConquer! Image "The Tank Egg"

Dispatch artists are very well represented here. Our newest writer, Hannibal 19, was the 5th place winner. Dakky21, a member of our Artists' Commune, was the only player to have two different eggs in the winners' circle. Finally, EBConquer, another member of our Artists' Commune, was the first place winner! It is an enlarged and reinterpreted version of his tank egg that graces the masthead of this special edition.
The second event to launch was the Great Debate on the legitimacy of the Easter Bunny. This is a forum based event, and will continue to the end of the Megaegg event on Monday.

Today is the beginning of the main part of the event, which will go on for the entire four-day weekend. The full details are given in the Megaegg Announcement. The event includes all the things that we've come to expect from entertainment events: Battle Royales, Speed Tournaments, Scavenger Hunts, Captioning Contests, a big Casual Tournament to finish the event, and much more. This event probably has more variety and more things to do than any previous Entertainment or Community event.

I'm sure you'll have a great time discovering all the different aspects of this big, complex, and ambitious event! Meanwhile, here are a few other things on the radar:
There's still plenty of time left to get some games going in The Southern Eclipse (the official monthly challenge for April.)

Jig's Fantasy Draft Event has gone through debate and refinement. The final version should be posted in Issue 116 of the Dispatch!

Two new maps have been released: Bruceswar's Baltic States and DiM's Slovakia. This brings the total number of maps on Conquer Club to a staggering 249!

TPA 2: Standings
Image The TPA2 spreadsheet has not yet been updated. (Remember to scroll to the right see the TPA2 totals after deducting all of the lowest scores over the Standard and Premier allowances.) We have now reached the spreadsheet limit of 400,000 cells, so I won't be able to list the remaining tournament results on that spreadsheet, just the scores.

One completed tournament since the last newsletter so there are 34 completed tournaments and 10 yet to finish.

The completed tournament was my Magic Trench Doubles Masters tournament with badmunkay & codierose narrowly defeating uckuki & Robespierre_ for first place.

Tournament leaders: uckuki (8,088); benga (6,554); Swifte (5,925); Aussie02 (4,782); Gilligan (4,553). These scores have now been corrected to account for the best 8 Premier scores rather than all Premiers played.
