So we can only vote in the vote thread? how are we supposed to keep track? do we need to have both opened and compare times in both?

Its safe to assume that virus and storr will keep us updated fairly well on vote counts. But having two tabs open shouldn't cause too much of a mess for anyone.

I am Jmac1026. (Hello Jmac!) I've only played a couple games of mafia on this site, but I'm very familiar with the rules and format, as I played a version known as werewolf on another site for awhile. I'll do my level best to maintain a very high activity in this game.

As per Strikewolf's list, Pancakemix has recently posted.

It's going to be much harder to see voting patterns when rereading I think, just saying.

This is very true. When I can see a lot of short activity and sporadic votes, it's different from comparing timestamps of posts and what have you. Plus I know who's voting how and why.

I'll write this off as a true newbie mistake.. Do you really think EVERYONE in your city is town? This is not anything new as I am guessing we're all in a city of one or another. Do everyone a favour, do not believe everyone in your city is town. Most likely each city contains 1-2 mafia and 1-2 third party. So what you share there is NOT private.

I think this had more to do with the possibility with someone not being in a city, which at this point I'd assume is not the case (though in fairness, I held the same view at that point).

Well I like the idea of StrikeWolf's list tracking thingy, so just to keep with it: Pretender has posted recently.

As for the rest, where do we start with the scumhunting?
There seem to be a fair few representatives of different clans in here so we do we draw lines based on clans?

The whole City thing I think will get very interesting, one thought I had would be to interrogate fellow city people to find they're alignment (kind of like a watered down version of the main thread, allowing greater focus on a fewer number of players) then pushing for a vote on the main forum.

Any other thoughts along those lines?

That was just a rookie mistake - I'm still new to to how to play this mafia thing and need to remember to watch what words I use. Besides, mafia always know who each other are and get to talk at night - there are no secrets amongst mafia. Only secrets in THE TOWN.

To charms point....if there is mafia in every city, they will know what goes on everywhere. This will give them a further advantage over town. So, do we share everything that is going on in each city? Does it really matter if we post who is in which city? All Mafia will surely know after n1... Thoughts on this? Also, we can all talk at night...

I do not think everyone in my city is town, and I pointed out in one of my posts the exact same thing. So no, not trusting them, and definitely not a newbie mistake.

My point was, that mafia already have more information than town. They know who town are and who mafia are, while us town players know only ourselves, like whether we are VT or a role, or so on. Coming out and talking about cities I believe gives mafia more information to use against the town. That is why I was wary of talking about cities. Not because I think that all the people in a city is town (though I wouldn't put it past Storr totally mindfucking everyone like that), but because I didn't want to give mafia more information than they already have. They could not have known about the locations. That was my point.

But anyway, I like the activity and questioning so far of people in this game. I am highly impressed.

First mafia does have the given advantage of knowing who each other are. that does not mean they know who anyone else is as I guarantee that this game is not strictly mafia vs Town.

You are definitely not a newbie? Then why are you making statements that you are Town? Sure sure its a technicality. You may know your Town but no one else does. Your whole presentation of "you are Town" using "us" and" we" rubs me wrong.

To me that's a red flag of someone trying hard to say they are one of the good guys.

I FOSed Betiko because he asked if AoG liked his character. There is no game relevant reason to ask that except to narrow the field on who AoG's character is so I called it rolefishing.

Which to HotShot's post.. cult.. In the show/book people need to die before they can be recruited... So if that is the case I'd keep an eye on "revivals".

Since it would be too easy to target anyone who has revived, I think gameplay would trump fitting the theme exactly here... unless the white walkers are used more as a distraction than a traditional cult. (Of course, that's assuming they will appear at all... it does seem like an obvious potential cult though)

My watch, Crasp, has posted his "hi" intro, but nothing else so far.

With a day as short as this, it's looking likely someone is going to die from 2-3 votes or leftover joke votes or something... because of that I didn't make a joke vote this game because the days are just too short for that really. Not sure how we're supposed to build a real case in this time though, so I will probably go to my default of voting someone who seems the most scummarizing/inactive

Is rolefishing generally scummy? I don't think I've seen a case based on that before. But it was pretty obvious that's what Betiko was doing from the first time he asked... trying to catch out a newbie who might give up some info. AOG was smart enough to completely ignore the question both times though.

@bunnies: I usually go along with the argument that saying you're town is scummy. That said, it's more of a flag when it's flaunted as opposed to what your post was (and I had trouble finding it upon rereading). IB is reaching I think, but there's not much to go one so I can't exactly fault him here.

@HotShot: If he got that info from AoG and AoG were a PR and betiko was mafia, then he'd have a good lead to go on for the mafia NK, hence it's a scummy thing to vaguely ask info about someone's role.

Rolefishing rarely helps town. It helps mafia a lot as they know their own members and even in a game like this a weak fake claim sounding name or one that might be related to a certain power role and helps them know who to target and maybe with fake claims as well.

The shortened days will certainly be a challenge for catching scum especially in a game like this where we could have 7+ anti-town roles. Still the challenge is kind of exciting.

any claims or role reveal should be a result of an L-2 pressure not fishing and prying questions

That said, Jweid last posted an introduction about 22 hours ago.

When I was looking up jweid, I noticed jonty hasn't checked in. I have played with him, but don't remember how active he usually is.

betiko is naturally inquisitive though. It's how he is. He says and acts stuff that other people won't. That said...
I'm curious. Obviously each city has it's own residents, along with mafia and 3p. I'm not gonna speculate on how many of each there are BUT I am curious as to if the mafia from each city can communicate. If so they could tell eachother who else is a member of their city and THAT would be quite powerful tool for mafia. Too powerful in my opinion. Thoughts?

Sorry guys/gals. I am having technical difficulties. Waiting on a reply from Storr. Not that it would have made much difference as to date i have nothing to say really. I have been watching with interest, especially the actions of the players i know and they all seem a bit subdued. Possibly like me they are a bit overawed by this multi room, multi player set-up. Hopefully be in long enough to get a feel for it. Tempted just to throw a dart at the player list for a vote.
