New Map 'Hint' Animations

Post by a213fwsdf32 »

This is directed to the site admin or whoever is designing things on here.

These new map hints that animate into position (by hint I mean 'reinforce from here' etc.) are ridiculous. Who thought this would be a good idea? What value does this add to to a user's experience? They are very annoying and distracting. They do not seem 'modern' or 'cool' which I am assuming was the intent here.

I'm not one of those 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' kinda guys, but I am a 'if it ain't broke don't break it' kind of guys.

These hints are useless for anybody who's played more than like 1 game and know what's going on. Now you want them flying around the screen requiring constant attention... Turn in... Turn out? Come on.

Thanks for reading this.

I haven't yet seen this feature. I just played a bot game to see if anything would happen, and nope.

Sounds like another case where the admins should be posting an announcement to go with the update?

They are probably rolling it out to only a few people at a time. It just makes the gameplay really clumsy. I'm sorry to critisize whoever designed this, but I really do not want to sit through game after game with this 'feature'. Either get rid of it, or allow us to disable it permanently, or well...

Ok...well telling us they suck doesn't really help me.

I'm not encountering them.

What situations do you get pop ups?

I already told you in main post. The hints that popup when you hover your mouse over a territory during your turn. They give you a hint about the action you can perform. Now instead of just popping up next to the territory (which everyone is used to) they slide in from off screen to the destination. If you aren't seeing them then the change isn't available to you I am assuming and it is not a settings issue.

Yes, I am getting this too (along with the side stats I've just complained about on another thread). Only started today, has someone been making alterations to the site? If so, could they change it back - it's really irritating.

Also, when you try to give someone a rating the stars flash excessively. Someone has definitely been meddling with the settings.

I hate to complain when someone is just trying to make the site better for us. But don't fiddle with things that people on here literally interact with thousands upon thousands of times just for the sake of fiddling.

Totally agree....have been supportive / accepting to this point (my bank, ebay, paypal, etc etc etc are ALWAYS also "updating" their sites...its a fact of life)....but THIS feature fooking BLOWS....annoying as hell. Additionally, the buttons spin when you're about to click them...e.g. I go to click say on "New Topic"...well normally its got those words plus a gray asterisk...when I hover over it it spins like a damn slot machine reel and then is a blue asterisk.....really? Feel like I should stuff a dollar into my 'puter.

.....really crappy upgrade.

ps - I no longer get a message when I receive an invite....wtf? Just missed out on a tourney I wanted in because the invite expired.....well I NEVER look at the invite tab as historically it says "YOU HAVE A FOOKING INVITE!" when you get one.....gods.

They have always been there. Now they glide across the map instead of blinking in and out of existence.

This is not due to any update I don't believe. Looks like you may have misclicked the side stat toggle. Below the round number is a series of blue "links". Some of them are "Color code", "Map Size", "Refresh Map", etc. Try clicking the "Side Stats" toggle and see if that helps.

The gliding is a bit silly.

It is very distracting. If it has to stay, at least give users a way to disable it.

My screen is sliding about, it's like I'm playing CC while pissed and I haven't drunk for 5 years.

Another enhancement that no one wants, it just gets in the way when you are attacking and makes the screen jump.

Posted above. I couldn't get the image function to work, I don't think I've ever been able to, so the dropbox link is posted.

I wasn't encountering them either, but I was curious what people were talking about so I played around a bit.

Apparently if you switch to non-Panel mode, the little tooltips that say "click to attack from here" etc. slide around instead of just popping up like they used to.

I don't use non-Panel mode so it won't affect me. Not sure what I would think of it if I did, but my first impression is that it seems much more slick and refined than just having them pop up.

What, the indicators? Just toggle them off.

What, the indicators? Just toggle them off.
Above the indicators (and Asia) is a balloon/box, saying something to the effect of "Click again to assault, Right-Click to auto assault". There was an update released, along with the slot-machine buttons and fading roll-overs, that is causing it to glide across the map instead of blink in and out of existence like it previously did.

A little white square sometimes follows it, for me at least.
