As another drab year dawns, we are ready for some old-fashioned Monthly Challenge action.
On January 8, there are Sri Lankan elections. From an election standpoint, these have it all - violence in the streets, boycotting, illegal tactics etc. From a Conquer Club standpoint, Sri Lanka is an important territory, since I once missed it in an escalating sweep on World 2.1. Upon further research, there was at least one other player who has missed it! That makes it "the invisible territory".
NO SIGN-UPS REQUIRED - Everyone is eligible! To sign up all you need to do is join and win at least one game started between January 1 and January 31 with the following settings:

Who can play a Challenge? All challenges are open to everyone, although freemiums may have a problem meeting the game load.
How do we join? All you have to do is a)create games that meet the requirements or b)join games that meet the requirements. They can be private, public or even tournament games. Team CC is not creating any games, the whole thing is done by users. There is a game-join link at the top of the first post.
What are the prizes? For reaching the Challenge Goal you get one of the rarest medals on the site, the Challenge medal. Challenges only come around once, if you miss it, you won't ever have another chance. For scoring the most points in the Challenge: 1 Green Conquer Star For those who finish in 2nd-5th place in the Challenge and achieve the Goal: 1 Blue Conquer Star
When do I get my prize? Soon after the end of the event!
How is deadbeating dealt with? Please report deadbeats in your games, I will do a random check. Inventory items will stay, but medals might be taken away if the deadbeats points do not allow for a medal.
Rulings
1. Deadbeats will have entry points stripped.
2. Wins by round limit count as normal wins.
3. Games can always have round limits but they never need to.
4. Inventory relating to the challenge will vanish at the end of the year.
5. Bot games do not score tokens. Past Challenges

Both public and private games qualify for the challenge.
When you look at the list you can see both the public and the private games. The public games you can join. The private games will require you to contact the person who started them (usually the first player) and see if he will invite you. Probably best to just stick with the public ones and save the hassle.

I would like to congratulate you on the scoring system. There has been a lot of improvement since the beginning.
Here we have a scoring system that allow people to succeed in a few games, and also in a lot of games. Both options are totally feasible.
And joining thousands of games and just winning 1 wouldn't allow someone to be on the 1st spot.

Thanks for your reply, noticed after my post it was private........
Tough question. That was a really popular challenge. Next time we return to the max games scoring format, each game will be minus a point. Frito Bandito should be first, not 4th. Congrats to the chips guy!

Thanks for answering the question within a month. I hope you are not serious that you are awarding frito 1st place. Though he did it in 1 less game (thus more impressive), there was a clear scoring system advertised. The top 3 clearly scored higher.
So, the tiebreak rule is first to achieve. Heg is first (he achieved the score on the 26th of Jan), shoop 2nd (Feb 2nd) and jimyork 3rd (Feb 6th). The tie for 5th will be sorted and then all the medals and stars will come out.

Just to come back to this. I think its weak that you don't answer my question for a month and then you amend the rules. I also think your tiebreak sucks. So people are rewarded for their opponents playing fast. So I get penalized for leaving a difficult for the evening because I don't want to rush it. There would have been many better options if a tiebreak was going to be imposed. Average finishing place, most 2nd places, most eliminations (I have no idea who would win that by the way). But instead you do with this. There was only 19 games, great chance for a tie, yet you had no tiebreaker.
Would it really be that hard to award 3 first places for this event, since there was a clear 3 way tie and then amend the rules, from the beginning of each future challenge?
Heg wrote:I quite like the tie break rule on this particular occasion
I'm sure you are, lol. In my opinion it should be a 3 way tie as by the rules we all tied. What make me unhappy is that on Feb. 3 I asked for clarification and none was given until well after the event was officially finished.
