This tournament design is adapted from the Master of Assassin [TPA] tournament, with permission from original TO, poptartpsycho18; and is not a continuation of her tournament series.
In the original Risk boardgame, a quicker variation of the game with added 'Mission Cards' was available, where the game was over if a player's assigned mission was fulfilled. Among these, a common mission was to completely eliminate a player's troops from the board. Thus, the Assassin game type was born, becoming one of the many gameplay options that Risk players have come to know and love.
With the ever increasing number of maps that the CC Community has produced, it certainly takes lots of skill to master each of them and still be able to call yourself a 'Master of Assassin' games.
This tournament will pit players against others on each of their favourite Assassin maps, and see who is truly the Master of Assassin!
Tournament Setup
Spoiler
- Each round, you will play five 5-player games.
- One game will be played on your home map, and the rest on away maps.
- Players must win at least 1 game to advance.
- At the end of each round, players with no wins and no immunities (details in next section) will be eliminated from the tournament.
- This will carry on until we have the final 4 to 6 players.
Finals
- The finalists will play 3 sets of games, each with X number of X-player games (where X is the number of finalists), for a total of 3X games.
- Maps used in the finals will consist of one set on each of the finalists' home maps, and 2 sets of maps randomly chosen from the pool of maps used in the tournament.
- The player that wins the most games in the finals will be declared the winner.
- Games that end by fulfilling a map objective will count as a win.
- Games that end by reaching the round limit will not count as a win.
- Players that eliminate the wrong target will have the game counted as a negative win (i.e. the player has to win 2 other games to advance for that round). Repeat offenders will be eliminated from the tournament.
Spoiler
However, immunities cannot be stacked - i.e. if you win on your home map while you already have immunity, you will NOT have 2 immunities.
Regardless, this means that your selection of home map is especially important, as it can help keep you around in the tournament for another round!
Spoiler
All other game settings will be Assassin, Automatic, Sequential, Escalating, Chained, Sunny, No Trench, 20 Rounds.
Spoiler
- Number of games won throughout the tournament. (more wins tie)
- Number of immunities used throughout the tournament. (less wins tie)
- Number of home games won throughout the tournament. (more wins tie)
- If still tied, tiebreaker game.
Spoiler
Finalists will be ranked according to finals results, then tiebreaker rules if necessary.
