What's Happening These Days - Clans

Post by hairingtons »

Sticking my head in the door.

Are clans & clan wars active these days?

It seems like it, CL8 is almost over, RL is going, CC7 is going.

Not sure how many individual wars there are with so many leagues going on.

Lot of activity these days, CCup, the League, Random League, Mini Cups, events, CR@W. Still pick up wars going on, but not so much amongst the top clans.

Mainly because of all these events and the time they take. An individual war doesnt prove much, winning a premier cup title does.

Do all the clans participate in the League and the Cup? (I guess it's like a season -- that's what you mean by CL7 / CL8, etc?)

Not all, for example I know that my old clan VDLL prefers single wars - less of a commitment. All top clans do participate in both, and I think most "average" clans too.

Clans are still around, but the scene in general is deteriorating.

Sure, 18-24 months ago, the number of clans exploded. But to be honest the "decline" since then is rather natural. Clans is probably the healthiest part of CC today.
At one stage there were "too many" clans to support active players interested in participating in that aspect of CC. Things have simply righted themselves.

I agree it's natural, but if you look at the number of veterans leaving compared to new members sticking in clans, the path is obvious.

interesting. i would probably agree w/ you but don't have a whole lot of data to back it up. Who are these so called veterans you speak of? Namliam says hello.

Well, regarding stats through the last 12 months we've "lost" 5 clans (though I believe all were mergers, so while we lost clans in the "total" it really was right sizing / joining of other clans rather than total loss).

In terms of players, we've lost about 9% (most of these were inactive players just sitting on clans rosters and "lost" during the mergers).
In terms of active players, our numbers are actually up (by a very small amount) although this varies from time to time. Anywhere from the same, to +/- 10% or what it was a year ago depending on the exact moment.

In terms of forum participation, again we are essentially in the same range as a year ago. (same variance depending on the exact moment).

Now, I dont have stats on "veterans" specifically which perhaps I suppose could be leaving at higher rates, but participation / activity in general is near the same (and that doesn't count things like poly event, 1vs1 events in which games are tracked by the system) and in general, clan numbers decline at a slower rate then the site in general and outpace the average regarding premium accounts.

I'll add that HH have not had any problems finding quality new recruits over the past year.
