I was watching a documentary the other day about the gentrification of London suburbs. One of the interviews was with a Sri Lankan woman who was complaining about how more and more non-Sri Lankan people are moving to her area and watering down the suburb's Tamil culture. You'd have loved it, ram.

Maybe I'd prefer to live in a Sri Lankan community than the self absorbed idiots that our society is producing nowadays. I already live in a very multi cultural area and have no problem.

It was pretty funny. In the 80's I lived in a building in which was mostly Indian and Pakistani, and they were busy trying to proxy-fight the wars between India and Pakistan. Whenever you'd get into a conversation with one side or another, they'd be telling you how evil "those people" were. I didn't have the heart to say, "sorry, but you all look the same to me."
