Ireland map

Post by Boxcutta »

It's a great looking map and fun to play. However, something's got to be done about the colors. The color scheme is just too subtle, and some of the colors are far too similar.

Very hard to tell what territories are worth as the map is now.

Agreed, I had no idea what continent I held until I received my armies on the next turn.

yeah, the colors are very similar the first time you play it. afterwards they're ok. it does seems small though.

and whilst were having a go at the Ireland map - Why did the cartographer write Cork on the slant?

He had loads of room to write it straight.

I bet that was after the pub, Lunchtime.

I thought it was well designed but it might need the colors to be a wee bit darker. Also it needs a bridge or something in the middle. But i still love it because it is based on the best country in th world.

The map looks real small. Also the large and small map are different (no border on small map).

I think Boxcutta's got a point on this one that we should have pointed out to Kevin at the time. I love the colouring the way it is, though. Maybe one way to solve this would be a legend where you have a thumbnail image of the map inside the legend (without countries, but with continents) with the numerical values of the bonuses inside the little thumbnail continents, and the names floating offshore. Or, alternatively, you could label the continents on the actual map. Either way, the light colouring that gives this map its authentic feel (but makes it hard to associate bonuses) could be kept.

The bonuses thing hasn't been a problem for me...

I'm playing Ireland for the first time, and can't figure the continents out.

I'm color-blind, which probably is part of the problem.

I think that if the coloured circle in the key where a bit larger it would be easier to see which colour was which... wouldn't help for colour-blindness, though... maybe the names of the 'continents' could be labelled on the map too?
