CALLING OUT HIGH RANKING PLAYERS UNWORTHY OF THEIR RANK!

let me tell you what ive experienced. 9 out of 10 high ranking bigshots (colonels or better) on here, will only play head to head games of their design on their terms.
their designed games are always complicated maps that they are usually very familiar with or at the very least there opponent is not lol. they stack the odds in their favor tremendously and its sad because their rank doesnt justify their skill. i have played many of them on their terms and lost obviously but when i challange all of them to a game of my design or at least, a board im familar with, they refuse. i happily get my butt kicked on their terms but they wont play me on my terms or nuetral terms.

its pothetic and its a joke. i hover around lieutenant, give or take, and these so-called experts, many ranks ahead of me, wont play me on any other terms but theirs.
if somone is truly good at something then they wouldnt be afraid to play others on any terms.

please offer an opinion. thank you.

You're mainly right, but would you mind not using caps ? It's very unpleasant to read.

Actually, these high ranking bigshots, are probably still relatively good on most maps, but in order to achieve high rank, and maintain it, one need to ensure a high win % against lower rank, which is easier to do by specialising on some maps.

It's not a secret that several majors around here, are on the same level or better than some brig/general, but those majors just happen to play tons of various maps/tournaments, and therefore their rank remain "average".

Agreed with your premise. It is a minority of high rankers who have the rank and a platinum or even a gold cross map. Some not even a bronze. If you like to play then let go of rank, play all the tournaments and games you want, let them sit out on their islands of a couple of maps with only a few conditions. Their loss, they lose out on meeting the variety of people that one can meet on this site.

Now the ones who have both are kick ass but I can learn a lot from them while getting my ass kicked. Most people will teach you after they win, but they will teach you because they want the higher level of competition. It is more fun for them that way. The ones that won't. What can one say. I'm just glad I don't live in the space between their ears. My experience is the vast majority are good people.

Avoid to play against these players and problem solved. They put net creating games with their setting and many fools fall in trap. And if you somehow manage to win they will block you so that you can not play again, because they don't like when someone manage to learn their setting and gameplay.

It's human nature to care about silly ranks to some extent, but some people do take that to the extreme. If you never care about rank and actually just learn the weird maps as well as the more straightforward ones, you'll become a better player than some of them eventually, and beat them at their own game. You have a lower rank, so they earn very little points from you, so instead of getting mad, watch their moves, learn what they do and you'll eventually become as good as they are on those maps. Some of those players do have exceptional skill, but some of them don't, they're just using a learned strategy and use the same one every single time. If you play against a difficult Boss in a RPG game, you learn it's strategy and can eventually pass it.

On saying that, I personally know some players who can pretty much play any settings and hold a rank above colonel consistently regardless of who they play against or what map they play. But even they will tell you that playing some maps like classic, for example, raises the luck factor, so they are less likely to play on those. For example, I'd expect to win 50% or more of my games on classic with basic settings due to luck having a larger place on small maps, but I would also expect to lose a LOT of points on it because of being higher ranked than most of my opponents. That's kinda the nature of the beast. You're going to see higher ranked players avoiding luck maps because they lose points, even if they win more than they lose.

And Doodle Earth? That's the worst one. I see you like that one. Have you ever played Doodle quads? lmao. Trust me, it's hilarious and not to be taken seriously because skill doesn't come into it. He who goes first wins.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that it goes both ways. Some people love maps where there's a large element of luck that doesn't really allow for much strategy. The dice decide the game. These are the maps with a small number of territories. You could choose to start playing larger maps without quirks like Europe, Eurasia and so on. People might be much more willing to bite if they know that the dice have less influence on the game. Dice will always have some influence, but when there are more territories, you have a chance to come back from a bad turn.

On topic of the thread, I wonder why people put so much stock into other peoples points. I learned growing up that you can often get a black eye when you stick your nose into other people's business, and these days people are running around with gun's and very little self-restraint.

ConfederateSS is an example of using all caps too much. I have no idea what he has to say on most subjects because I don't read his posts. The mix of caps and lower case I find very obnoxious. Is it his right to post that way. Sure. If his goal is to to communicate something, then he hurts himself because I and others will not read what he is saying while it is presented that way. If one just wants to make noise in a corner by one's self, then by all means use all caps, use funky colors. Just don't have an expectation that people will spend the time to reply.

Are posting in a forum because you would like some feed back, or discussion, then one needs to cooperate with norms. Not because the norms are right or good or correct but because they are accepted by the majority as being the proper way to communicate. Do you have to? I'm not defending confed or his choice to do whatever it is he does. You have to wonder, how much work does it take to make those odd font size changes happen, and why the guy bothers? It never bothered me nor does someone writing in all capitals.

I'm just saying, written garbage comes in vanilla too. Being able to spell, often has little to no correlation to typing out something worth reading.
