The Adopt a Noob program

Post by jnd94 »

<-------------------->

<Subject>:
Concise Idea: Adopt a Noob Prgram

<Body>:

Suggestion Idea: Newer players can team up with veterans to learn new strategy and help improve their game.

Specifics: Newer players, or players that arent that good at risk can enter a drawing, and each week, a player gets to team up with a high-ranked player for a few doubles games. Of course there will have to be a minimum # of games played to ensure that there arent any deadbeats in it, and so that the veterans dont get PO'ed and stop.

Why it is needed: It can help newer players develop strategies and start winning more. Also, newer players might want to stay longer on CC and buy premium if their first few games are wins.

Priority** (1-5): 3

I don't really think that we'd need to put them up with veterans. Just somebody who knows their way around CC.

Someone either good at risk, or someone who has been on CC for a while. Just so that they can develp strategy and get the lay of the land.

I like the idea in principle, but I think the only real thing that is going to stop new players deadbeating is a much, much, much more improved Instructions page/ FAQ. I didn't join for a month as I couldn't figure out what exactly the game was about but it kept getting linked to at another place, and eventually I joined.
And if the first game I joined had not by sheer luck been played out in realtime, I probably would've said "I have to wait hrs!?!?!" and deadbeated, not understanding why thats the case, and never visited again let alone bought premium.

So yeah, not everyone knows what risk is, and a mentor program would help that, but step #1 has to be update the instructions!

I agree there needs to be a better way of educating new players as they sign up. I don't think the Instructions are too poor, but perhaps they could be improved, and maybe there could be a way to have a new player directed to that page right after sign-up. I was in a game recently with a newbie who just didn't understand the duration these games take to play. He just got frustrated and left the site before anyone else even had a chance to take their turns. He may well have become an active member if only he had learned a little about how this place works first.

Dude the level on this site is ever more getting better, i remember when 2000points was good enough to be top, now you need that just to make the 1st page. n00bs come and go, and generally find there own ways of playing, and they also bring there own styles etc into the game. This is not needed and would be a waste of time, sorry. But keep up the idea's bro

I will be the first to say that it could be an option if any of the better players would be willing to take the time. Some people like to do everything and find out everything by themselves (like I did) while others prefer to have guidance.

I would enjoy have a n00b partner and I think it'd be fun to bring them in. And over time I would have like my own n00b army ready to pwn.

Honestly I think it'd be fun and helpful.

it wouldn't have to be mandatory for either noobs or vets, it could be an optional thing for both, or one or the other I don't know.

It could help some who don't understand this game to come to enjoy it and thus create more adversaries and more money generated which causes more new upgrades.

So in conclusion I think the idea has merit but I also believe that what makes this game, and risk in general fun and entertaining is doing your own thing, no matter what that is, being a god, sucking a cow tit, or somewhere in the middle.
