One of my many concerns about the Election 2024 is that many likely Trump voters believe that he is the "Savior" and will FIX everything. He is NOT and will NOT.
The big problems this country faces requires ALL (at least a clear majority) of us to help fix; not half, not 49%, not 47% of the nation. Trump cannot do it by himself, and as divisive as he, he will be lucky to have 50% supporting him for nearly any issue.
The problems are too complex and too intractable to be solved by a quick fix, like "Build the Wall and Let Mexico pay for it." Inflation, the budget deficit, Social Security, Medicare (that almost NO ONE talks about), Gaza, Ukraine, Taiwan, and much more NOT yet apparent will take LOTS of hard work and effort and intelligence. I do not see the needed commitment to solve problems and fix issues by anyone in politics NOW, at least not in a leading position.
The failed border "Solution" by the US Senate is an example of a lack of effort and willpower to fix ONE Problem. (I think one BIG issue here is timing: getting something this big passed in an election year is bad time to TRY. The issue of immigration has become TOO politicized.)
And Congress is paralyzed by political division and there is no major incentive to COMPROMISE. SAD, very SAD.
For both sides, there is only a payoff being an extremist, far-right or far-left, ONLY. Those in the center and more likely to compromise, are decried, bashed, and are not elected. SHAME SHAME.
So, dems win that seat in NY by about 8 which Santos won by 5.
The polls were between +1 and +4 dems.
The trend continues and Joe Biden will be your president for 4 more years.
