could you perhaps develop more on the gameplay??

with just 13 terits i thiunk it needs a great gimmick to make it interesting. :wink:

Well, I wasn't really attempting to showcase an idea here, I just wanted to see if WidowMakers can/would be willing to draw characters. Then I got carried away like I always do.

It's basically every person starts with their 3 armies and one space and has direct (one way) access to the center, but then to attack another player from the center you have to break down their blocking (buffer) territory. Which when we play contains 10 to 15 armies that aren't allowed to be moved or used (neutral). (I'll need to pick an exact, I'm thinking 12)

The center is worth +15 armies and starts with 1 neutral army. (Chances of keeping the center the whole round after you move are very small) This discourages building.

Code: Select all

2 Person Example
All one way (->)

Player -> Center <- Player
  ^       |    |       ^
  |       |    |       |
Buffer <--/    \--> Buffer

(Rest is nonsense strategy talk. I've only played this game maybe for 8 hours straight back to back non stop one night, and on several other occasions. I'd say it has been extensively tested.)

However, something I use if I see everyone is trying to be builders is I usually take the center myself early so someone has to stop building to break me, and if that someone is not the person that moves directly after me then I will not break them back so someone else has to stop building to do it, or they have to accept that someone will get +15 armies for a turn, which is usually enough to break a buffer or make taking the center away from them VERY difficult if the other players aren't willing to work together to do it.

Anyway, just an example of a strategy situation. I'm sure some really bad tables will have everyone building for a long time, but then it just takes one person to start the smack down.

I think the best way to play is to keep a float of 4 at home and then use all my other armies every round to attack other players buffers through the center.

I remember we figured out statistically the right number so that if you moved last your chances of being killed if everyone goes all out against you weren't very high.

That's the only real downfall of the game in my opinion, is that if everyone is going to gang up on one person there isn't much that person can do about it. But that is true of any risk game.

i asked you to develop on the gameplay because WM said he will do graphics only when the map has a sketch a bonus system and all gameplay aspects done.

to be honest i'm not a fan of the idea but that's just me. others will probably love it.

Yeah I get that, I just wanted to ask him if he can draw people. I've never seen him do it.

I'm slowly learning I suck at drawing a penguin. But like everything else I just keep redrawing over it constantly until it looks somewhat decent.

I think I did the 'flippers' okay. :roll:

.

I think that if its 15.. It'll be hard to take the center from whoever can collect its bonus. And building will most likely become a problem after a player can receive the bonus once, it'll be hard for other players to take it, being that they probably wont be getting very many armies.

I think it wouldn't be a problem in sequential, where whoever is holding the center has to wait for the other players to go.. The center will most likely be taken. But in freestyle, a player can take the center as he ends the round and possibly play second in the next round, giving him much better odds than the guy in sequential. And once he gets those armies, he may very well build them up in the center, and how are players supposed to take him out?.. I mean, its entirely possible. But I don't see it being very easy. And if they can't do it by the next round, the guy in the center is going to get the bonus again.. And after a while, he's not going to be stopped. Or thats what I think.. Other than that, its an interesting idea. Maybe i'm wrong, but I think it needs a little work and a bit of balancing..

Once again. I will only work on it once everyone agrees it is good. Has everyone agreed on the borders, the number of territories, the bonus. Show me a thread where you have agreement and I will work on the map not until then.

I don't really draw people but cartoony characters maybe. I might be able to depending on what you exactly want.

EVERYONE!
This thread is for people to ask for GRAPHICS HELP. Not ideas. There are other threads for that. If you have an idea and that idea is liked buy the others in the foundry and you need help let me know.

[size=24]ONLY AFTER THE INITIAL CONCEPT, BORDERS, BONUS AND TERRITORIES HAVE BENN ACCEPTED BY THE FOUNDRY!
