The stupid waiting games ppl play.

I have noticed that in some games, players will log on when it's their turn to play, do nothing, sometimes even speak in the in game chat just bug ppl but not take their turn. Sometimes it's to do a synchronized attack with a team mate, sometimes they miss turns to get missed turn multipliers, or they just like to piss people off.

I wanted to know, is there a penalty for people who's turn come up, they log in, say a few words, then wait another 17 hours before taking their turn? I mean if you log on and your turn is up then for god's sake just use them. I am getting mighty sick of these intentionally drawn out games and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Maybe not a real rule against it but at least message players that this is frowned upon or something.

mmm. People can argue the other way and say we have up to 24 hours to take our turn. It's not mandatory that we take our turn right away and no one should have to. Imagine if you had a 4 page english paper assigned to you. The professor says you have 2 weeks to turn it in and get full credit. Would you turn in the 4 page paper the next day it's assigned or two weeks later. I would prefer the later. Some people may choose to turn it in earlier and get it over with. It is all a matter of preference.

Some people may log in to check their games and strategize on what they should do. For freestyle games timing can also be very important on when you decide to take turns.

Ex: In freestyle games players who have a bad positions to start off may intentionally wait until most of the other players have taken their turns. This way they know what their opponents are going after and can take control over another area so as to not be the man in the middle of conflict.

Ex2: In freestyle games players may not want to start the round off and instead be the one to end the round. That way other teams do not get double turns before they are able to take turns. Double turns usually can cause the strongest player in the game to become the weakest in one round.

There are many more reasons than just synchronized attack, miss turn multipliers and pissing off.

If you really don't want to play drawn out games then play freestyle games that way your guarenteed a turn every 24 hours or go for the real time games. Games not declared as real time should not require players to play immediately because it is there turn.

I understand people can take time with taking their turns, I don't mind that. What I do mind is when team one needs to play first to start the round and I wait for 17 hours while they show up and say stuff like. ": D", "Hello", "What are you doing." I mean c'mon, if your gona take your time, then shut up and take it, no need to do those little taunts. And what possible reason is there to wait if it's me and my ally waiting for those two, they where both online and still they waited.

i think they should put the timer down to 12 hours.

Well no, the timer doesn't bother me, people have real lives that they need to deal with first.

But if the guy shows up three time when it's his turn then yes, it would be good for the timer to be shorter. If he's going to be there then he doesn't need another 22 hours that he will use to flaunt around in front of the others.

I'd say maybe every time he logs into the game and it's his turn then leaves without playing, an hour is removed from the time he has left (if this where the case some of the guys I'm playing with would have definitely run out of time by now).

ok i agree with you there then they should have a rating think were after you have played like 10 games it takes your avg time it take you to take your turn and it adds it to ranking or they have a rip for it so you have a low rip if you don't take your turns very quick and i high rip if you take you turn quickly.

No armies for missed turns is on the To Do list. If you don't like people coordinating, switch to Sequential.

If you dont like it become a member. that way you can play as many games as you like. And then who gives a crap about some guy who takes 24hours and 15min to play.

yes but what about the realy high ranking players that use freestyle in 4 person doubles? They'll take there turn and end it first, then wait till 5 minutes left in the 24 hour thing, making the other team miss thier turn while in 5 minutes they'll get to go again? i fucking hate that

I've had that done to me, or sometimes tried to do it to me but I was present. He found it funny that I was bothered that he was taking extra hours (and I mean a lot like 20) before taking his turn and he ends up waiting until there is minutes remaining, then takes his turn so me and my ally have a few minutes to take our own. I did, my ally didn't.

I call that abusing of the turn system, and yes, that kind of game play has turned me away from team doubles game all together. Which is a shame cause if we could just have a nice, respectable game then I wouldn't' mind playing those type of games.

people have the right to think about their moves, and you shouldn't get points for spending less time on your moves, you could like end your turn immediately and get points...

I agree people shouldn't get anything bad from taking too long to play, what bothers me (and the people who do it seem to think I'm in the wrong), is when people log on, look around, chat in game, have some fun, enter active games where it is THEIR TURN! then leave without starting a thing. I get some people do this to synchronize attacks, which is one of the things that bugs me about doubles teams games (in triples people do it less cause it's harder to synchronize), and when they are both logged in and they don't take their turns ... oh that just burns me.
Oh and another annoying thing people do, they look at the forum active player list, and if they see you are there they don't start, they wait till your logged off before they start their turn which is just ... (watch your language) frustrating.

That's why I stick to my earlier suggestion, when you log in for over 5 minutes and don't take your turn, you should lose an hour from your time you have to play your turn. Maybe it's excessive but it seems to be the only way to get to stop people from abusing the system like they do currently.

I mean maybe I lack patience, but it seems that that's not what that type of game play was designed for. Sequential is slow but fair, freestyle is made so people can play when they can and so goes faster but it's not perfect. They added a that thing where you can't start the next turn if you ended the last one and it's good so it prevents double turns but I have to say something about it. <<In one of these waiting games, I ended last and the other team waited 22 hours before they started the next turn. I understand that a players ally can't start the next turn cause that would open up a whole new way to mess with the turn system but at least make it so that after 12 hours of waiting you can start the turn even if you ended it (it can hardly be called a double turn then). That way the other team won't jerk you around for over 22 hours and make you miss your turn cause they started the turn when your asleep and you have 2 hours to take it.>> This situation of taking a turn hostage is a perfect example of when a player should be penalized for login in and not taking his turn

Anyway... I'd love to hear more people's opinions or ideas on the subject cause I find it's a real problem with double team games. (happened to me more than once)

edward, if you're ever in any games with me, I do that because I'm usually playing with friends, so want to chat, but can't take any turns while at work, although I will be on here checking the forums.

And that's another thing I don't get, people say they have the time to log in and chat and stuff but not the time to play (and taking your turn can't be that long, I mean, look around at the map and make your move). Now, I would be OK if they take a long time to take their turns, but then those same people are able to synchronize their attacks together to make very late or early attacks, double teaming you when your not online (maybe they are in a part of the world where they are awake when I am asleep) but it just seems that they are online very often to be able to hit when it hurts (i.e. when no one else is online to challenge them) and then the other teams end the turn so they gain control of when it starts all over again. I mean, it's probably true that some people have tight time tables, but it seems like some people use that as an excuse to log in, check if the others are there, then strike when no one else is present. Then when asked why they logged in all those times and didn't play they say "Oh I was busy with the job and the cooking and the baby, I was just lucky the one time I'm able to play was when my ally was online and no one else was, so we took half the Fraking continent!" (noticed I used a fictitious curse word

)

And sorry if I seem to take it personally but it seems like the only way to be able to counter these Hijacked Turns as I call them, is to check your game every 45 minutes, night and day, cause they can strike at any moment, and I am just not obsessed enough with this game to check that often so they always get the upper hand and I'm sick of it. I'll probably just give up on double teams, but I want to at least understand why these things are happening. Even if I am in the wrong
