If you are incapable of contributing in a positive manner - actually adding something informative or newsworthy to the thread, please post in some other thread.

I don't have any hardcore numbers...but I'm hearing that Obama has been doing extremely well with his fundraising efforts. I'll go check out some stats unless someone else finds them and posts them first.
I vote Republican, but nobody in that field really gets me motivated to vote. The person who is probably closest to my views is Duncan Hunter. I met him a couple of times down in San Diego as well, so that obviously sways my opinion a little.

Obama (I've read) had $32million in donations? Is that right?
And about Hunter... I've heard a little bit about him (mostly from the Hannity radio show, he likes him) what do you like about him? I have a tough time, when it comes to actually voting in the primaries, voting for someone who doesn't have a chance, so... think he has a chance to move up at all?

Well first of all, he's for eliminating the teaching of anything related to the Lions in public schools...
I like him because he keeps to his conservative principles despite the criticism. He has also stood against President Bush on certain issues. So he's not just a "yes" man.
I like Tancredo as well, but he seems to almost be a one-issue candidate - Illegal Immigration.

Tancredo is decent as well, although you are correct that the only thing he is known for is Illegal Immigration as it is a huge problem here in Colorado.
I'll be too young to vote until the 2012 election. I think it would be a real shame if the Republican Party did not nominate Mitt Romney just because he is a Mormon.
My history teacher told us that it is extremely unlikely that Barack Obama or Mitt Romney could be elected. His reasoning was that there has only been one time in US history that someone outside of the Protestant Christian camp has been elected (Kennedy).

I would only vote for Mitt Romney if he was running against Hillary Clinton. If the Republicans select Mitt(which I assure you they won't), I'd probably vote for the Democrats, some small party candidate, or an independent candidate. But that's for my own personal reasons.

He isn't the worst choice I've seen but I definately would not vote Romney. It's not about his faith, I don't really take faith into consideration but I just have doubts about how strong he will be as a leader.

I can't see anybody else in the Democratic field beating her unfortunately. She does have a very high unfavorable rating. Who knows what could happen. I've been going to RealClearPolitics to see the latest polls, and it seems like the American people are mad at everyone.

Obama is a Protestant Christian. He belongs to the United Church of Christ.

Hillary is not terribly popular among those Democrats most likely to vote in primaries. Understandably so: she is among the most conservative Democrats running. This would usually be a good thing in a general election, so Democrats have sometimes looked past Conservatism during the primaries in order to get a Democrat into the White House. Hillary is a unique case, though. Despite being so conservative, she's WILDLY unpopular among Republican, Conservative, and Rightist males (a very vocal and powerful group). She unpopular enough with this ~20% of voters to make her essentially unelectable in a general election.
Although i despise Republicans, i'm very conservative as far as marriage and family are concerned, so i despise Hillary almost as much as the Republicans, but i would vote for her solely because of the health care issue.
I'll be able to vote in '08, so I should really be looking into this more. However, I don't think it'd be much of a shame if we had Hillary as a leader... I'd definitely prefer someone else, but if we had Hillary we'd be getting input from Bill, and he's got plenty of experience.
I am not a Republican but i will be rooting for Rudy. I like him alot with what he did through 9-11 and being the mayor of New York City is a tough job. John McCain is in my opinion the #2 guy out of that party.
As for the Democrats, I like Obama but if he doesnt win this year, he will win next time. I do not really want Hilary to win.

Perhaps your teacher is referring to the fact that Obama went to a muslim school in Indonesia for awhile and said prayers at a mosque as a child. He may have just been following the example of adults in that community. It is true that people have come forth and said that his parents registered him as a muslim at that school, but I would think people also register their kids as Catholics in order to gain admission to private schools when, in reality, they couldn't care less about denominational loyalties. And yes, his mother later remarried a muslim man, so that might also play into how people view him.
Ask your teacher if it's the muslim influence that's got him putting out that theory.
