Poker Map

Post by altkaese »

Ok, this is pretty easy to describe:

Poker map. 52 countries, i.e. a full deck.

Cards can attack any card that have both another color AND a rank exactly 2 away. I.e. an ace of spades can attack any trey or queen not of spades, a ten can attack queens and eights not of the same color, kings can only attack jacks, deuces can only attack fours.

Continents: You only get the HIGHEST bonus from the following bonus list
High Card 0
One Pair 1
Two Pair 2
Three of a Kind 3
Straight 4
Flush 5
Full House 6
Four of a Kind 7
Straight Flush 8
Royal Flush 10

This makes a total of 21023 continents (78 pair, 2808 two pair, 52 three of a kind, 9180 straight, 5112 flush, 3744 full house, 13 four of a kind, 32 straight flush, 4 royal flush).
To make the bonus work, a feature like "find the highest continent" or "use the first continent held in the file" would be really helpful (not necessary, but you don't want to know the number of continents without that feature).

What do you think?

Additionaly, the following bonus card rule would have style:
Blackjack Bonus Cards: Like always, each card has a color, and three cards of the same or three different colors can be cashed in. If the sum of the values of the countries associated to these cards is 21 or less (aces count as 1 or 11, whichever is better), you get this number as bonus. if the sum is above 21, you get nothing. You have to cash in with 5 cards, of course.

You and widow? Sad I already had a layout complete and everything.

EDIT: And the layout was freaking hard. Trying to make it so one pair is the easiest to get, and two pair after that and so on up the ranks, and making sure that straight flush would be the hardest to hold. Not easy at all.
Warning: You may be reading a really old topic.

Hey Coleman...

Don't worry - we were still discussing that stage... can we have your work? (obviously credit will be given?)

PS - do you want to help us with the XML? (It's gonna be BIG!!)

This layout still might not be quite correct. Also I'd think it would be best if there was a way to enforce everyone only starting with 5 territories regardless of player count, but oh well.

Just one observation, 3 of a kind for 7s is the easiest 3 of a kind to get but 7s are also the hardest 4 of a kind in this layout.

Full houses might be too easy under this build... But I figure reasonable players will bust things like that up if they can. Or if you made the map larger/cards smaller you could add more 'blank' spaces to change things up.

Looking pretty tidy Coleman...

Royal flushs might be fairly easy to get as they encompass the bottom corner mostly?

Perhaps we can spread out the face cards a bit more? What do you reckon?

C.

PS Can we take this chat to the other Poker Map topic?!
