I'm not sure what I think right now. Tragic? Hyperbole, to be sure. Maybe such sentiment will prompt organizers (myself included) to organize better tournaments. A couple of points:
1. 1v1 games undoubtedly have a higher luck factor than 3-6 player games. The rolls in the first 2-3 rounds usually decide the game. It is much easier to win as a weaker player. I'm not saying Jake is a weak player - I honestly have no idea, other than to notice that to get down to 400 points is pretty hard to do.
2. Points have never been a consideration for me in joining tournaments. No captain would ever join tournaments, other than those with strict point requirements, if they were.
I'm not accusing anyone of joining for the sole purpose of gaining a boatload of points. I don't know if jake was thinking of that or not.
