I'd like to ask competitors in my tournaments to be patient, since I won't be able to set up any new games until this issue is resolved. Games already set up will still continue and the various threads will be updated but it's just to impractical to set up any more games until this problem is sorted out.

I'm trying to avoid having 2 fields (1 standard + 1 free-form) because I find it to be unintuitive. I think 1 field is simpler for the participants and easier to code.

Different labels is not enough. I always give every game another name, and find that very easy to keep track of the results. So when there is no free text field anymore, then I am really considering to suspend my tournaments that I'm running now.

Edit: I have suspended 4 of my 5 tournaments now (for the 5th all games have already started to there are no problems there). It's made to difficult to keep track fast of the results, so I will resume them when there is the possibility again to add extra text to the tournament games (wether this is the "old" system, or the new with a free text window added is both OK with me).

Actually that would be a good compromise - two tournament boxes. One is a pull down with the official name. The second is a text box where the orangise can put in details like "July 2007 - Player1 v Player2"

agree totally, my 3 tournaments are now suspended while we get this sorted out. Not that it matters cos i still can't create games for 2 of my tournaments.

I wonder if there are any tournaments that are continuing to run.

All of mine will continue to run as soon as they give me back the labels for them. I'm also still planning on announcing my next two within a couple of weeks whether the changes are made or not.

My 1 v 1 tournament that had as part of the headings the competitors name as all been changed. It took me hours to set this up and is now totally ruined. None of the competitors know which game to join, neither do I.

Well done guys, you may as well delete all the games. I will try to press on with my other 2 tournys but i guess when the vultures get to them they will be ruined too.

LOL. I don't think that will happen. When starting this site you indeed seems to have created a monster. Even if you actually tried to get away, I'm sure they'll pull your sorry ass right back in again... :D

cc is still a very new venture, but i think one of the things you will find is that the clan demographic will be the most loyal premium renewers and generally be on cc for a larger average amount of time than those who are not. something needs to be done about the clan thing asap. if we must wait for the update for it to be sorted, at least let tournament organisers keep the privs for a little while so clan tourneys can also be organised. this is the fairest and most sensible compromise

i thought the old system worked great

having said that, i never understood why you couldn't just have the ability to create private games with labels, thus ending this whole tournament versus non-tournament distinction which is really a mirage

Not only labels are important, but also for the tournament games, the person who organizes it should not be joining the game.

And I think lackattack is reluctant to give this ability to everyone, because apparently we can "abuse" the system this way.

UPDATE:

There are now 2 fields for tournament games: the tournament name and an optional game label.

I am still cleaning up the existing labels. About 40% done.

Thank you very much. This way it's perfect. On the one side clearer for you who is organising what tournament and on the other side easier for us to keep track of results.

Lackattack, what about clan tournaments? Would it be possible to get clan tournament label for the tournament organizer? With the same rules as before? for 90 days after the public tournament is finished?

Until the Rivals will be implemented we need some way to carry on with the private tournaments...

I agree it would be nice to have private tournaments, but this system is designed for public tournaments. Private tournaments will have to wait.

Lackattack, system can handle it. All we need to do is to give another tournament label. EI:

1. I am organizing public tournament, lets say "CC Double Elimination"
2. When this public tournament starts I can also request another private tournament label, lets say "Super Elite".
3. So technically I will have 2 ongoing tournaments.
4. I can keep the private tournament label for 90 days after my public tournament is finished.
5. This is very similar to what we used to have, and what was removed without any warning.
