Although I keep moving between China and Hong Kong, I'm a Canadian citizen and would like to say that Canadians and Americans are two completely different kinds of people(except that both peoples' country are multicultural). For one, most Canadians are more peaceful. They rarely sought war and hatred. But some Americans are very attracted to military conflict(good example is George W. Bush). They(I'm only saying some Americans) are always so interested in using excuses to inave another country. Secondly, Canadians like to relax more than to work, but Americans like to work more than relax compared to Canadians. So there you have it, two exampls of why Canadians and Americans are two completely different kinds of people(except that both peoples' country are multicultural).

You're kidding right? America has the most varied culture backround or any country! English, Irish, French, Spanish, Japanese, etc. Loads of people from different countries surged to America in the 19th century.

Oh and Canada is mostly British, only the Quebec bit is truely French.

Canda has immigrants from different cultures too. According to a Canadian book(can't remember title or author, but it was published in Canada), the city of London(the one in Canada) has residents with at least twenty different cultures. You can't really say USA is the country with the most varied culture, but you could say that it is very multicultural.

QFT, Canadians definitely have an accent. Now, it's not nearly as disinct as British or Australian, but it's there.

Oh, I think many parts of the United States are practically the same country as Mexico. But the cultural, political, and economic similarities between most of the United States and most of Canada are much more profound than those similarities between most of the United States and most of Mexico.

well, in terms of the type of music, tv, movies, and general pop culture, canada is very similar to the u.s (almost indistinguishable). Canada is still pretty different from the U.S generally in terms of immigration policies, health care, and other things like that. If you go to Quebec or other French-Canadian dominated areas, it is very very different from the U.S - it's like.. france, but in north america.

yeah, canadians didn't all descend from the french (those are french canadians) the anglo-canadian community is based up of United Empire Loyalists, immigrants from britain, settled here because of new england, after bna, etc Actually, canada receives a lot of immigrants from the u.s but i guess no one can tell (lol)

Someone should start a thread like this for the British Isles. Including Ireland.

Well, most Americans actually really truly DO think that the British Isles are all the same country. Most Canadians probably know better. Maybe.
