I finished the book, it started to get pretty interesting to read (to the point where I could read 2 pages in a row without wandering off), but all the excitement ended within the last 20 pages. Pretty much the most boring book I have ever read. I'm sure there are some hidden meanings or themes, but since its summer I got nothing. To sum it up, The Sun Also Rises is like watching a toilet flush.

I think a toilet flush would be faster.

Ok. Nobody thought the scenes were they were drunk were funny! I remember reading and thinking "Man! this doesn't make sense at all! .... Oh, he's drunk! I get it ... hehe, this is great!"

And luns, dude I think we have diametrically opposing tastes in literature. You just named several of my favorites

I calculated it, they were drunk 9/10 pages throughout the book. The first time it was kind of funny. But they were drunk THE ENTIRE BOOK, thats just makes for boring shit.

alright,
reading The Sun Also Rises was like watching a toilet flush repeatedly. Every time you expected something excited to happen, the same boring shit went down.

have you seen the game. I don't know what's the funniest part about it. The gameplay, the fact that they thought it would be a big hit, the fact that a ton of people bought it, the fact almost everyone who got it wanted a refund, or the burying of games.

Don't worry about finishing it... he never gets it up, and Viagra hadn't been invented back then. The scene your looking for never happens. Trust me.

(I'll be honest, I quite liked it; not my favourite book, but not a bad read at all...)

It's kind of a metphor for living life in a liquid medium . Fun for a while, or on occasion, but there's way to much other stuff to do.

rofl, but seriously the last scene does make up for it, Brett gets squished into him and they just become better friends, after everything that happens at the end, everyone's relationship gets screwed except Brett's and the main character, you see the sun also rises not only sets :)
