Many. The Half-Life series is considered to be Halo's rival.static_ice wrote:Minister Masket wrote:Yes I do.static_ice wrote:do even you know what you're talking about there?Minister Masket wrote:Oh for goodness sake. hmm...ps3 counterparts...tell me, what ps3 games are out there that are even close to the style or level of greatness that the halo series has achieved?

okay well forget the non-FPS's that you mentioned because they are in a different style and thus aren't counterparts. (AND please, please, sonyboy, check your exclusives and stop thinking that just because a good game is coming out on multiple platforms it will automatically be better on PS3Minister Masket wrote:Many. Not to forget Haze, Fallout 3, Unreal Tournament 3 and of course, KILLZONE 2.
And that's just the FPS's.
How about MGS4? GTA4? Ratchet+Clank series? Star Wars: Force Unleashed? Plus many, MANY more.
The 360 is making a BIG mistake relying on 1 game for profit.

okayMinister Masket wrote:You fool! Killzone 2 is NOT a clone of Halo. You just think it is. Most FPS's are similar in retrospect, so I'll forgive you for that. You're just trying to cover up the fact that it willl be a serious contender for Halo's crown. As is Haze.
Oh, and exclusivity does NOT matter in these cases. I've seen Oblivion played on both a 360 and a PS3. There ARE differences. The PS3 CAN do more. Get used to it.
Forgot to mention Crysis in my list.

A. You didn't forget to mention Crysis in your list, you just said "and many more" first because you thought that first list was enough. Now that I obliterated it, you needed to add another to the list to make it seem more powerful![]()
B. okay maybe killzone is not a clone, but through a bunch of research I just did Halo 1 was much better received than Killzone, it was simply more innovative and didn't rely on a story to make the players feel better, even though it had a good story itself (and if you didn't see it in H1 it becomes very obvious in H2)
C. yes Exclusivity does fucking matter and always will matter. sure PS3 is a more powerful system but that is not always the only factor. Often developers get lazy or just hate sony () notice the following cross-platform games, its been agreed, the graphics are better on 360 than on PS3:
Need For Speed Carbon
Call of Duty 3
Madden 07
Fight Night Round 3 (also it takes much longer to load on PS3)
Tony Hawk's Project 8
Ridge Racer
Devil May Cry 4
Def Jam Icon
NBA Street Homecourt
Virtua Tennis 3
Spider Man 3
MLB 2K7
okay so essentially the 360 does better with 3rd Party games, and in many cases all the games that aren't better on 360 came very close or in some cases tied... (and we all (should) know that 3rd party games are a huge part in contributing to a system)
and Finally, D. Graphics aren't everything. The tried and true formula to winning a console war is the games. Games games games, and this is where exclusivity plays a key role![]()
so if we're done with the power of games, go ahead and start a debate with games, go ahead I dare you

Yeah, it looked better. But was it better? Well, the answer's probably yes. But really, Killzone has probably made a fraction of what Halo has made.Minister Masket wrote:
B - That's because Killzone 1 wasn't all that good, while Halo 1 was a ground-breaker. I was talking about the much, MUCH better looking sequel. Stop looking into the past and stop trying to shift the spotlight!
Me too, but Ill also need a 360 as well.sharrakor wrote:Yeah, it looked better. But was it better? Well, the answer's probably yes. But really, Killzone has probably made a fraction of what Halo has made.Minister Masket wrote:

I mean seriously, how many other games actually have BOOKS, that are based off of the game. I can think of...Brute Force, another kickass game for the XBOX. And that's about it. Meanwhile, Halo has at least 6 that have already been published, or will be published. Probably 7, seeing their obsession with that number.
And there's a set coming out for H3 worth $130! So take your Killzone 2 (probably can be bought for like 30 bucks) over to your little Sony Shrine.
I would trade in every game I've ever owned (quite a lot) for a free copy of Halo 3. Is there any game you can say that for? I think not.

A - That's just plain ridiculous. I added Crysis because I felt it was worthy of mention. If I wanted to re-fill my list, I would have added much more then 1 game.![]()

C - Yes, developers are VERY lazy. Note how many cheap game tie-ins from movies (Transformers) are generally crap. They are rushed to fit in with the film's release. Oh, and Devil May Cry 4 doesn't belong in your list, as it hasn't been released yet. Perhaps you meant 3?
BTW: your list sucks. It's full of crap sequels to generic series' I wouldn't touch with a barge poll. Except Call of Duty + DMC.
I never said anything about graphics, but I do agree with you.
However, do bear in mind: Gameplay makes a game, graphics makes a good game. And boy does the PS3 have a huge line-up of games for 2008. Something which the 360 is definatly lacking...
I beg to differ. In my opinion, Resistance: Fall of Man is better than Gears of War.Titanic wrote: Masket, wtf are you talking about. Have you played Gears? I haven't played Resistance, so I won't judge, but Gears is a pretty good game (much better than Halo, IMO).Minister Masket wrote:I beg to differ. I have played both and Gears is WAY better than Resistance. I do need to run through both single player game fully but I know I won't be talking about Resistance in a few years when I look back on really good games.pancakemix wrote:Have you played Gears? Yer, thats true. I've never played resistance online so I cant judge about that part of it, but the campaign scenarios on Resistance are pitiful compared to Gears. The levels that I played (it was a minimal amount to be fair) were more walkthrough which made it obvious what you were meant to do and didn really involve mch of your own initiative or imagination. In Gears using your initiative helps you greatly, and the levels are complex and make you tihnk. Also, Gears online is great, and btw, my friend got to 400th in the world on gears, got 11,000 kills before he had to stop playing for exam revision.sheepofdumb wrote:I have played both and Gears is WAY better than Resistance. Sorry. I wish though. I was working there so it would have been kind of obvious if i was trying to film it. It took a lot of control to not try to jack their disk of it though.Utafar wrote:flyingskiman wrote:I just saw part of the campaign for Halo 3 at the Pacific Science Center(Seattle) in Imax.
