Bought a digital SLR this summer so I've been having fun with photography... Never really been much of a photographer before, but I'm enjoying it immensely. Going to Barcelona soon so hopefully I'll be able to have some fun with my camera there.

Ice, your stuff is really different from what I really see, and it's that unique quality that makes it great! And Guiscard, your pictures are very good but now I feel like I can't share my new clothespin picture. =/ I really like the red flower shot, though.

Thanks mate. I'm pretty new to photography. The red flower is just as shot, no photoshop or filters. Accidentally covered the flash briefly with a finger. Weird effect but I like it.

I love the picture of the blue bridge / walkway. What processing in photoshop did you use? Is the blur a photoshop effect? If not how did you do it?

Well well, welcome aboard! Photography is a lot of fun, I hope you enjoy it. That flower one is impressive, it's hard to believe you got it naturally like that but then again that's one of the great things about taking pictures.

Let's see, in Photoshop I just copied my layer, went to the Motion Blur filter, set it to "Zoom," and erased over the bridge and the poles on the sides. Quite a neat little trick, simple too!

Here's my clothespin picture, I recently returned from a vacation to New Hampshire so I've got a bunch more in a forest that I'll upload later.

I added both of you to my flickr account.

This one I don't think is as cool, or close, but I love the strong depth of field.

About a year now. I had a little fujifilm A340. Really limited me, but forced me to be more creative. Now I feel like my XT limits me, but I think I'm being stupid.

I know what you mean. I had a Canon Powershot s110 (circa 2000/01) until I got my XTi.

b-b-b-bump

Image

this is me :D
it took me 2 weeks I think, and I still have to do the background which I expect to take atleast another week.

go ahead and zoom in to notice the oodles of time I spend on the shirt texture and skin texture and especially the hair effects.

plus 10 cookies to the first person to figure out my little watermark in the corner :)
