Gotta give honorable mention to some of my noble adversaries: MeDeFe, vtmarik and Guiscard; I've learned a lot debating with them. My list from the other side of most debates includes the usual suspects: Nate, Luns, Anglican. But after reading the agnostic thread, I gotta go with OnlyAmbrose. I was blown away, as were several of his opponents. (No scatalogical puns please, Norse)

To be honest, I couldn't care less who wins. There are plenty of intelligent people on this forums (some of them debate, some don't) and I don't think it's possible to single out just one, and it's almost insulting to the rest if we do.

Well, not being one to judge the opinions of others, I will turn a blind eye, despite watching certain members of your "hot-list" have their bowel ripped viciously from them, by certain other people.

You must mean the vicious uncalled-for personal attacks to which Ambrose responded with surprising gentleness, maturity, and lack of retaliation. Yeah, whoever it was boasted s/he was going to "rip it out of him" or some such bluster and obviously failed. My estimation of Ambrose went up a great deal as a result.

Say Norse, would you have been capable of responding with such restraint?

Nah, I think I'm reffering to the occasions where certain "digs" and mild provocations have be dealt with by supreme blasts of intelligence, wit and cunningness to said one's liver.

Maybe he is recovering, and feels a bit sore.

Add 'lack of substance' to that list and you've summarised his post beautifully. Please don't make the rookie mistake of thinking that 'not having the last word' is the same thing as 'admitting defeat'. There's only so much sense that can be talked into a man who still continues to insist that forum comedians (and apparently anyone who isn't debating) are 'acting like idiots' and as such cannot be recognised as intelligent enough to warrant even a mention in a discussion about the possible intelligence of forum members.
