Suggestion: a dropdown ability for attack options

Post by BeakerWMA »

Just a thought:

Subject:
Ability in a map to determine what areas can attack each other prior to or during your turn.

Suggestion Idea:
A drop down ability similar to the Attack/Fort dropdown which could be utilized prior to or during your turn and placement of armies to determine if one area can attack another area.

Why it is needed:
The maps are getting harder and harder to determine which areas can attack which areas (and it seems they will only get more complex). I've lost at least one game due to the fact that I thought an area could attack another area when it could not. This drop down feature would enable players to check on whether an area they want to attack or place armies on can be used to attack another area.

Figuring out where to find it and how to install it isn't clearly spelled out on the site either, unfortunately. Lots of people mention BOB and Greasemonkey but that's it. Follow these steps:

1) You have to use Firefox as your browser. Download it at http://www.firefox.com
and install it.

2) Install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748 & restart Firefox

3) Install http://www.trentolson.ca/downloads/conq ... ob.user.js

4) Go to My Settings in Conquer Club and set "Enable AJAX" to NO

5) Now, visit one of your games

I don't think that we should be recommending GM & BOB until the new AJAX friendly BOB has been created...

Other ways include looking at the XML in detail... of course this won't help with speed games...

I guess familiarization with each and every map only comes with experience...

It would be nice if some of the BOB features were coded into the site though - especially the Map inspect Hover code - as that would be very easy for Lack to code in.

I do know...that in one of the next updates (Perhaps not the next but the one after it) 'Bob-esque' features are planned to be intergrated into the site.

Specifically, since you mentioned the Hover, I think that is also a possible addition.

Most, if not all, of BOB could be integrated into the site much more easily than getting BOB to work with AJAX.
