I was wondering what it meant to have 'safe claims' for mafia? I read that in a few games and I think it's related to goops question too.

A safe claim is a name given to scum that won't identify them as scum just from name alone. It helps the scum not have to think of a fake name. Andy's the only mod I've ever played under that used safe claims.

I'll let an actual game mod answer the other question.

Because players could analyze PM's for tipycal word patterns used by the mod and then vote those whose roles are most likely fake (which would make game less about playing mafia and more about spoting the mistakes in PMs).

Personaly, I think that there are few simple steps by which you can disable Townies from profiting from PM quoting. I will post them after my game is finished.
